On Friday, November 8, 2024, it will take place at the Xenokratei Archaeological Museum in Medium length the event “Ancient Macynea: presentation of a settlement with centuries-old habitation in Aetolia”, which largely concerns the results of a research program, in which the archaeologists of the Ephoria Fotini Sarantis and Fragoula Georma participated, and which is presented for the first time to the general public.
The Research Program was implemented within the framework of the Operational Program “Human Resource Development, Education and Lifelong Learning” of the NSRF 2014-2020. It concerned the study of the architectural remains and the urban development of the settlement of ancient Makynia, which were uncovered on the occasion of the construction of the Ionian Road highway and were investigated between the years 2009-2013. In the context of its implementation, among other things, in collaboration with specialized architects and engineers, design representations of selected buildings of the settlement were made. These were then used to produce short videos, which provide a vivid image of parts of the ancient city and make its special features comprehensible, even to non-experts.
The above will be presented in the context of the event, which will take place in the reception area of the Museum, at 18.30, according to the attached program, with free entry.
