Lhe awards ceremony of the 4e edition of the Winners’ Day of the Ioba province took place on October 12, 2024, in the rural commune of Zambo (South-West region). The organizing committee, strongly supported by the strong forces of the province, pulled out all the stops to honor the winners. This initiative, started in 2021, aims to magnify the efforts and remarkable successes of primary, post-primary and secondary students and teachers in the Ioba province. The 2024 edition of Winners’ Day highlighted these talents, according to the organizers. For the promoter, Professor Hervé Hien, this initiative is a springboard for support and recognition of the merit of education stakeholders at the local level (school heads, school directors, CCEBs, teachers, teachers, etc. .) who, despite the difficulties inherent in working conditions, spare no effort to ensure quality training. According to him, it is about drawing benchmarks to follow, building levels to follow and identifying skills and attitudes to observe. The promoter said he was satisfied with the performance of the 4e edition in Zambo and the strong mobilization and interest of the population. He mentioned that parents and the community need to be able to change the method of communicating with their children. In this regard, Professor Hervé Hien recalled that telling a child to come home with the average was not enough, we must rather tell him to come back among the top of his class, this will give him this culture of excellence.

Sponsors encourage all the winners to cultivate more excellence

Bonosokoum Arsène Ghislain Somda, Director General of the Society of Textile Fibers of Burkina Faso (SOFITEX), and Jean Joseph Somda, Regional Director of Preschool, Primary and Non-Formal Education in the South West, sponsors of this edition, recognized the relevance of Ioba Laureates’ Day. “Sponsoring an award ceremony for the best teachers and the best students is, in a way, investing in education, and whoever invests in education invests in the future,” said co-sponsor Jean Joseph Somda. The sponsors invited the supervisors to establish competitions for the creation of good practices in information and communication technologies (ICT) by class and by establishment, for more healthy emulation. “Make them dream and these ICTs should help them make these dreams come true. Youth must dream to dare to invent,” they insisted. The High Commissioner of Ioba province did not fail to encourage the promoters. Bernadette Adenyo/Sermé took this opportunity to welcome and encourage this very laudable and salutary initiative which continues to inspire in children the permanent quest for excellence. For her, Winners’ Day is also a healthy emulation in a context marked, among other things, by the abandonment of classes induced by gold panning, pregnancies and early marriages, and especially by the context of security challenge which is shaking the education system nationwide. To reward the winners, the promoter and the driving forces of Ioba mobilized a moped, 11 bicycles, school kits and scholarships to the three best girls in the Baccalaureate per month, for 9 months. The first girl in the CEP session 2024 in the Ioba province, Estella Marie Somé, received a bicycle and school kits. “I am happy and I encourage the other students to do well at school and I hope to come back here again when I have had my BEPC,” said the winner. For having been the best teacher in the province of Ioba, Larissa Combasséré left with a moped and a teaching kit. “I say thank you to the promoter and I hope that he continues to galvanize teachers and students to surpass themselves.
