“We don’t sell out” –

The agreement between the Ministry of Economy and the Lufthansa group on Ita Airways risks falling apart after almost two years of tight negotiations which even led to a preliminary green light for the wedding from the European Commission. Corriere della sera writes this, reporting rumors of a “dispute” that occurred “in particular over the price”, and which broke out “shortly before the documents for the approval of the wedding were sent to Brussels” between the airlines.

In fact last night. Italians and Germans, according to the sources reported by Corriere, “started discussing some contractual clauses relating to the amount to be paid following the first capital increase reserved for Lufthansa. At that point – it is one of the reconstructions – the German giant would have highlighted that the closing, plausibly at the end of the year, should see an ‘adjustment’ of the figure relating to the second tranche equal to 603 million euros because Ita will have lost value compared to six months earlier”.

But the Italian side “does not accept any adjustments on the second tranche” based on the partial financial results. “Italy does not sell off its company”, is the phrase that leaks out from government sources. This reopens a game that seemed to have reached its conclusion.
