Blizzard plans several surprises for the 30th anniversary celebration of the Warcraft franchise. One of them could be the announcement of a remaster for a classic, something corroborated by leaks. Warcraft II: Remastered could be the name of the project that will revitalize the real-time strategy classic released in 1995.
Blizztracker, the service that monitors Blizzard’s updates and servers, received the registration with the name “’Warcraft II: Remastered Internal Alpha” this Wednesday (06). Furthermore, dataminer Stiven obtained images from the company that confirm the existence of the project.
The images feature the Warcraft II: Remastered logo and leaked art with a naval theme, something in line with the classic’s setting. As the leak is marked “Internal Alpha”, the game should be announced soon, but the launch is not expected to take place until 2024.

**Interview with Game Industry Expert, Alex Harmon**
**Interviewer:** Thank you for joining us today, Alex! With Blizzard’s upcoming 30th anniversary celebration for Warcraft set for November 13, there’s been buzz about a possible remaster of Warcraft II. What are your initial thoughts on this potential announcement?
**Alex Harmon:** Thanks for having me! The idea of a Warcraft II: Remastered is exciting for many fans who grew up with that classic. It could really hit the nostalgia factor hard. However, while remasters can bring classics to a new audience, they can also provoke strong feelings among existing fans. The key will be whether Blizzard respects the original material while enhancing the graphics and gameplay.
**Interviewer:** Absolutely! A major concern in remastering beloved games is maintaining the original charm. What do you think Blizzard should focus on to avoid alienating long-time fans?
**Alex Harmon:** That’s a great question. I think they should concentrate on preserving the core gameplay mechanics that made Warcraft II so enjoyable. If they can update the visuals and sound design to meet modern standards without changing the fundamental gameplay, that would be ideal. They should also consider implementing quality-of-life features without disrupting the balance that competitive players appreciate.
**Interviewer:** Speaking of competitive play, do you think a remaster could bring back the competitive scene for Warcraft II, similar to what we’ve seen with other remastered titles?
**Alex Harmon:** It’s certainly possible. If the remaster offers robust online multiplayer features and supports competitive play, we could see a revival of the community around Warcraft II. The success of a remaster often hinges on how well it integrates with contemporary gaming culture, particularly with esports in mind.
**Interviewer:** Great insights! As we await the official announcement, I wonder how readers feel about the potential remaster? Do you think the excitement outweighs the risks of disappointment?
**Alex Harmon:** I believe that’s going to spark a lively debate. Many fans will be eager to see their childhood memories revitalized, while others might be cynical about whether Blizzard can deliver a product that meets their expectations. It’ll be interesting to see how the conversation unfolds as we get closer to the anniversary event!
**Interviewer:** Thanks again, Alex! We look forward to hearing more about Warcraft II: Remastered and what the community thinks!
