New GP in Ittiri: Making Choices and Other IT Shenanigans!
Sassari. Well, it seems the wheels of healthcare in Ittiri have turned, and a new general practitioner has landed on our doorstep like an unexpected pizza delivery — a delightful surprise, though we might have to pay in patient choices! Dr. Maria Grazia Manconi has officially taken over a tenured position after a stint as a replacement. Honestly, it must be nice to finally have a permanent spot, just like her printer at the clinic, which hopefully puts out better quality than the IT department.
The good doctor will be seeing patients at her haven of health located at via Marini, n. 31, Ittiri. Mark your calendars, folks! Her office hours are like a bank’s — not exactly what you’d call generous. You can catch her from Monday to Wednesday, 10 AM to 12 PM, then some afternoon hours on Thursday and Friday from 4 PM to 6 PM. So if you need a check-up, just pray it’s Tuesday — the day the universe declared open for business!
Feeling left out? Don’t worry, the Choice and Revocations Office at ASL Sassari has got you covered! You can pop down to via Ospedale during specified hours — basically when the sun’s out, and Tuesday has rolled around — or you can just send an email. But let’s be real: sending an email might feel like the age-old game of “Who has the most paperwork?” So, keep your documents ready! You’ll need your identity card, tax code, and if you’re signing for a minor, your parents’ ID too. Because what’s a good bureaucracy without a healthy helping of red tape, right?
Prefer digital? Of course, there’s a streamlined approach for the modern-day citizen! If you’ve got a Health Card or SPID (which sounds suspiciously like a rejected superhero name), you can connect online and make your doctor choice like you’re shopping for a new pair of shoes — fee-free and possibly with less disappointment! Just steer clear of that bizarre IT glitch that happened on the first day of sign-ups (sigh). The system managed to squeeze in — hold onto your coffee — over 1,280 requests when it should’ve ground to a halt at 1,000! Clearly, someone needs a refresher course in counting! And if your request is pushed back in line, don’t worry. Just picture Dr. Manconi receiving a flood of emails and requests like she’s the hottest date at a school reunion!
For the 2,028 citizens left without a General Practitioner, just remember that the ASL is actively searching for more doctors to fill those gaps. They’ve even ramped up the Ascot service at the former Alivesi Hospital—basically throwing a healthcare party for the roaming citizens. However, you might want to check it out before it turns into an episode of “The Office” where everyone forgets the doctor was there in the first place.
So, here’s hoping the IT department gets its act together! The company does express their apologies for any inconvenience caused. Because honestly, if you think the line outside the pub on a Friday night is bad, you should see the waiting list for a proper doctor around here!
Sassari. The Corporate Management of the ASL of Sassari has officially announced the addition of a new general practitioner, Dr. Maria Grazia Manconi, who is set to serve the residents of Ittiri. She has transitioned to a tenured position effective November 4, 2024, after previously fulfilling a replacement role in the area. This change means that patients previously under the care of Dr. Gabbi have now been assigned to Dr. Manconi automatically. In accordance with legal requirements, patients are encouraged to formally select their doctor at the Choice and Revocations Office of the ASL of Sassari to ensure proper registration.
Dr. Manconi will operate from a clinic located at via Marini, n. 31 in Ittiri, adhering to specific office hours for consultations: from Monday to Wednesday, she will be available from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and on Thursday and Friday, she will see patients from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
To select a doctor, you can visit the Choice and Revocation of Doctor desk situated at via Ospedale in Ittiri during the following hours: Monday to Friday, from 08:30 AM to 12:30 PM, and on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Alternatively, appointments can also be made via email at sportellosau.distrettoalghero@aslsassari.it, but you will need to attach a copy of your identity card, tax code, and, if applicable, the identity card of a parent for minors.
The online Choice of Doctor service is accessible to all citizens registered with the Sassari Local Health Authority, provided they possess a Health Card that functions as a National Services Card (TS-CNS), which must be activated at ASL counters. Additionally, citizens can use SPID codes or an Electronic Identity Card (CIE) for the selection process. To make a selection online, please visit the following website:
https://www.sardegnasalute.it/sceltamedico/
Moreover, patients have the option to choose a doctor at local pharmacies, provided they present a health card and a valid identity document.
On the first day of Dr. Manconi’s availability for patient selection, the IT system encountered unexpected issues. Despite the legal limit of 1,000 patients for a doctor still in training, the system mistakenly recorded 1,280 assignments. As a result, the District of Alghero issued a notice to inform the public that patients exceeding the maximum limit will be automatically removed in chronological order of their applications.
The Sassari Local Health Authority is actively addressing the shortage of available doctors, currently faced by 2,028 citizens, along with another 1,144 assigned to a physician who is absent and unreplaced. To further meet community needs, the authority is eager to fill existing vacancies for general practitioners. In a proactive response, they have enhanced the Ascot service operating at the former Alivesi Hospital since last month, which currently offers the following extended hours of operation:
Monday, from 09:00 AM to 01:00 PM and from 03:00 PM to 07:00 PM;
Tuesday, from 09:00 AM to 01:00 PM;
Wednesday, from 09:30 AM to 01:30 PM;
Thursday, from 03:30 PM to 07:30 PM;
Friday, from 08:00 AM to 02:00 PM and from 04:00 PM to 07:00 PM.
The Company sincerely apologizes to the public for any inconvenience caused by the recent IT issues.
**Interview with Dr. Maria Grazia Manconi: The New GP in Ittiri**
*Interviewer*: Good afternoon, Dr. Manconi! Congratulations on your new role as the general practitioner in Ittiri! How does it feel to officially have a permanent position after your time as a replacement?
*Dr. Manconi*: Thank you! I’m thrilled to be here. Transitioning into a permanent role brings a deeper sense of belonging and the opportunity to build lasting relationships with my patients. I’m genuinely excited to serve the community and contribute to their health.
*Interviewer*: That’s wonderful to hear! Can you share a bit about what your office hours look like and how patients can make appointments?
*Dr. Manconi*: Certainly! My office hours are a bit structured — from Monday to Wednesday, I’ll be available in the mornings, and on Thursdays and Fridays, I’ll see patients in the afternoons. I hope this schedule provides ample opportunity for everyone to come in for check-ups and consultations.
*Interviewer*: It sounds like a thoughtful schedule! Now, for those patients who were previously under Dr. Gabbi, they’ve been automatically assigned to you. What advice do you have for them regarding formal registration and making their choice known?
*Dr. Manconi*: Patients will need to visit the Choice and Revocations Office at ASL Sassari to formally select me as their GP. It’s a simple process, but it requires them to bring along their identity card and tax code. Those with minor children will need to present their parents’ IDs as well. Proper registration is essential to ensure they receive consistent care.
*Interviewer*: I can imagine the paperwork can be daunting! For those who are more tech-savvy, is there an online option to choose a doctor?
*Dr. Manconi*: Yes! For individuals who possess a Health Card or SPID, selecting a doctor online is a convenient option. It’s just like shopping online — easy and accessible! However, they must ensure their Health Card is activated at ASL first.
*Interviewer*: It’s great to have that digital option available. Speaking of technology, there were some hiccups with the online system during the sign-up period. How do you feel about that?
*Dr. Manconi*: Like everyone else, I was quite surprised! Technology can be unpredictable, but I hope those issues are resolved quickly. The influx of requests shows how eager people are to engage with their healthcare, which is a positive sign. Hopefully, the IT department can smooth out those glitches soon!
*Interviewer*: Absolutely! Lastly, any message you’d like to share with the citizens of Ittiri as you step into this new chapter?
*Dr. Manconi*: I want the community to know that I am here to provide care and support. Don’t hesitate to reach out with any health concerns. My goal is to create a welcoming environment where everyone feels comfortable. Let’s work together to ensure the health of our community!
*Interviewer*: Thank you, Dr. Manconi! We appreciate your time and wish you all the best in your new role!
*Dr. Manconi*: Thank you very much! I look forward to meeting everyone soon!
