Filmax Appoints Xavi Viza as Director of Entertainment and TV Movies

Filmax Turns 70 and Goes Big! 🎉

Let’s have a round of applause for Filmax as it opens yet another chapter in its illustrious history! At a sprightly 70 years old, you’d think they’d be considering retirement and taking up knitting, but no! They’re launching a new production line dedicated to entertainment programs for television and telefilms. Talk about a mid-life crisis gone right!

Meet the Man of the Hour: Xavi Viza

Enter Xavi Viza. With more than three decades of experience, Xavi is about to make us all feel like underachievers at the proverbial water cooler. He’s not just stepping into this role; he’s driving a shiny new bus down Filmax Avenue, and let’s just say, it’s not stopping for anyone! From producing hit shows like ‘Extra-Rosa’ to directing the legendary children’s programs on RTVE, this guy has been busy! Just try to keep up. His track record includes hits like ‘Los Lunnis’ and that unforgettable Three Wise Men parade in Barcelona! If you haven’t seen it, do your homework!

A Friend in High Places

Now, it seems Xavi isn’t just a talented director; he’s also got some high-profile buddies! Carlos FernĂĄndez, Filmax’s president and CEO, referred to him as a “very good friend.” And you know what they say about friends: you can choose them, but you can’t choose your family! Lucky for Filmax, they got a family member who knows what they’re doing. “This is a tremendously exciting challenge,” says Xavi. And given the state of the global audiovisual landscape right now, it sounds like he just signed up for a thrilling rollercoaster ride!

Xavi’s Recent Triumphs

Xavi has recently completed his stint at Focus Studios, where he produced series like ‘Reina Roja’ and the award-winning telefilm ‘Alguns dies d’ahir’. Not to mention the entertainment program ‘Master xof’ — which, if you ask me, sounds like the sort of thing you’d watch at 3 AM after possibly one too many. But don’t knock it until you’ve tried it!

Filmax: The New Age of Storytelling

Filmax, based in the sunny paradise of Barcelona, is on a roll. It’s 70 years of experience behind it, and I must say, it’s aged quite nicely! The studio has gone from strength to strength, producing more than 100 films and series that have garnered awards and international recognition. That’s more successful than my dating life in the last decade!

What’s Next?

So, what’s next for Filmax and its new entertainment wing? If Xavi is to be believed (and I have a hunch he knows what he’s talking about), they are poised to adapt to all the latest trends. Forget crystal balls; it’s all about engaging with a changing global audiovisual landscape, one format at a time. And who wouldn’t want to see where this adventure leads?

With all the excitement building up, one can only wonder: Will we see the next blockbuster on our screens soon, or a groundbreaking series that makes ‘Game of Thrones’ look like a school play? Stay tuned, folks — Filmax has plenty more tricks up its sleeve, and with Xavi Viza at the helm, the show must go on!

Filmax, a renowned player in the audiovisual industry, marking its 70th anniversary last year, has embarked on an ambitious venture by opening a new production line specifically devoted to crafting entertainment programs for television and telefilms. To spearhead this exciting new initiative, the company has appointed Xavi Viza as the new Director of Entertainment and TV Movies. This innovative division will complement Filmax’s existing operations in film production, series production, theatrical distribution, international sales, and factual programming.

Xavi Viza brings with him over thirty years of substantial experience within the audiovisual realm. His illustrious career kicked off at Antena 3, where he was part of the team responsible for creating iconic programs such as ‘Extra-Rosa’ and ‘Sorpresa Surpresa’. Subsequently, he transitioned to RTVE, where he honed his skills as a director of children’s programming, overseeing beloved shows like ‘Los Lunnis’, ‘Peter & Jack’, ‘Aprendemos en Clan’, as well as the festive broadcasts of the Three Wise Men parades in Barcelona. His stint as Executive Producer on Clan, RTVE’s dedicated children’s channel, saw the launch of various successful series including ‘Big Band Clan’, ‘TutĂş’, ‘Momonters’, ‘Blackye & Company’, and the feature film ‘Lunnis de legend’.

“Xavi is a very good friend, with a long and fruitful professional career in the audiovisual industry. It is a pleasure that he joins the Filmax team family and contributes his experience and talent to produce new entertainment content,” stated Carlos Fernández, the president and CEO of Filmax. His endorsement reflects the high expectations surrounding Viza’s role, emphasizing the potential for innovation and creativity.

In the last three years, Xavi Viza has served as the director of Focus Studios, being instrumental in various significant productions. His work includes the critically acclaimed series ‘Reina Roja’ and ‘Terra Alta’, the telefilm ‘Alguns dies d’ahir’—which received the Silver Globe 2023 Hall of Fame award at the World Media Festivals 2023—and the engaging entertainment program ‘Master xof’, showcasing his versatility and talent across multiple genres.

Throughout his extensive career, Xavi Viza has developed not only strong skills in program direction and executive production but also a remarkable aptitude for the creation and adaptation of engaging formats that resonate with audiences.

“This new step for Filmax represents a tremendously exciting challenge. The global audiovisual landscape is undergoing significant change and growth. Filmax possesses all the requisite qualities to innovate and create new formats that align with evolving industry trends,” Xavi Viza expressed enthusiastically, highlighting his vision for the future.

Based in the vibrant city of Barcelona and boasting over 70 years of operational expertise, Filmax is committed to integrating all facets of the audiovisual process—from conceptual development and production to exhibition, distribution, and international sales.
