Argentine Luis Moreno Ocampo, former prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), affirms, in an interview with EFE, that a possible prosecution of Nicolás Maduro for crimes against humanitybecause the country needs a transition towards democracy and not a little “makeup.”

Moreno Ocampo does not doubt that there was “electoral fraud” in the elections of July 28 – in which according to the ruling party Nicolás Maduro won – and condemns the arrests of opponents, electoral and criminal prosecutors ordered afterwards.
The Argentine lawyer is convinced that the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim Khan, “He’s not going to hesitate” to prosecute Maduro, but “that’s not enough.”
“A transition is needed where the regime accepts that it lost the elections and there is a path to a democratic system,” he adds in a telephone interview with EFE.
“It is not possible to believe that a little bit of makeup is enough,” warns the former ICC prosecutor, who is presenting his book in Spain these days. War or Justicein which he charges against war as a model for conflict management.
“An analysis of Gaza, Ukraine and Armenia are examples of a model of managing conflicts through wars that has no future, it is ‘Fortnite’, it is the idea that I kill others and I am left alone,” he concludes.
