In October, the news of the death of actor, dubber and activist Jiří Hromada, who passed away at the age of sixty-six, hit the public. Presenter Aleš Cibulka remembered his good friend, who also revealed the cause of his death.
“Jiřík and I knew each other very well. He was a wonderful friend. He was very close to us, he belonged to our closest group. He and Michal (Jagelka, partner of Aleš Cibulka, editor’s note) discussed a lot until the early hours of the morning, when they argued about politics and the like,” he confided eXtra.cz Aleš Cibulka, who, thanks to his close relationship with the Hromada family, also knows what was behind his death.
“We talked about it with my cousin Petr Hromada, who has been taking care of Jirka with his wife and the whole family for the last months, and unfortunately it happened that several illnesses came together. I can’t say that it was a heart attack, a stroke or something like that. ” says Cibulka, adding that health problems have accompanied Hromada since birth. “Unfortunately, he spent the first five years in a sanatorium as a sickly and very sick child. And he really had a lot of illnesses,” the moderator sighed. In the interview, he also indicated that Hromada unfortunately did not take care of his health much and did not listen to the advice of doctors.
“The conclusion was that he ran away from those problems a little bit. He also didn’t give much to life management, pork knee and beer, that was his. And he didn’t pay much attention to the doctors’ advice. Unfortunately, he came to that in his own way, because those diseases were combined so much that he it got. There wasn’t just one reason. He lived to the fullest, and that was one of the reasons why he is no longer with us,” concluded Cibulka, who will miss his friend very much.
Remembering Jiří Hromada: A Life Lived to the Fullest
In a bit of news that left many with a heavy heart (and perhaps a heavier pint), the world mourned the passing of Jiří Hromada, an actor, dubber, and activist whose antics may have truly been one for the ages. He shuffled off this mortal coil at the ripe age of sixty-six. And if you thought it was just heartache that got him, think again! Presenter Aleš Cibulka was on hand to reveal more than just a tearful goodbye—he spilled a bit of the health tea as well.
Cibulka fondly remembered his mate Jiřík, regaling us with tales of late-night arguments over politics—something we can all agree is probably best done over a few beers rather than, say, while watching a news broadcast. Apparently, Jiří and Cibulka’s partner, Michal Jagelka, could go on like this until the early hours, discussing everything from “who did what in politics” to “why it’s perfectly acceptable to eat that third slice of cake.” Ah, friendship goals, right? It’s about brightening up the darkened corners of life, even if that sometimes leads you straight into a plate of deep-fried pork knee!
But not all stories are glitter and confetti, as Cibulka candidly shared the tragic details surrounding Hromada’s death. It wasn’t just one illness, but a whole cocktail of health issues that found a way to ensure Jiří had an unforgettable finale. Cibulka referenced conversations with Jiří’s cousin, Petr Hromada, revealing that Jiří’s body had been like a bad rental car—always in need of repair but never quite getting the attention it deserved.
Starting off life in a sanatorium is no joke, and to think Jiří faced his fair share of health hurdles right from childhood makes it even more remarkable he made it to sixty-six! One can only imagine the cocktail of illnesses concocted in his earlier years, which we can only hope didn’t involve a greedy bartender pouring triple shots of bad luck. Perhaps, rather frustratingly, he may have waved aside a doctor’s orders once too often—”Yea, yea, doc, I’ll eat my greens after this plate of ribs,” we can hear him saying, taking a comedic gamble with life. And judging by his poor diet choices, it seems he was betting it all on the culinary equivalent of playing the slots!
Ultimately, one can see he lived life to the fullest. And what does that mean? Well, it means maybe indulging a little more than you should, sharing laughter with friends until dawn, and perhaps, going against the grain of conventional wisdom. Cibulka mused on how sometimes it was like Jiří simply ran away from his problems—a common practice among most adults who prefer to choose Netflix over the “uncomfortable” act of confrontation. But take heed, dear readers; the lesson here is that while it’s great to embrace life passionately (and yes, with a hefty portion of beer), it’s equally essential to listen to stout advice—particularly when it comes from professionals in lab coats.
Cibulka, while reminiscing about the good times they had, pointed out that while health wasn’t Jiří’s strong suit, his vibrant spirit will remain a cherished memory. So here’s to Jiří Hromada—an actor who may have slipped from our world but whose legacy of humor and friendship will live on. He certainly made a raucous exit fitting for someone who knew how to debate until the cracks of dawn, even when faced with his own mortality. Perhaps he should be remembered as that heart-full comedian who bled laughter in life and beyond!
In October, the shocking news of the passing of the talented actor, voice dubber, and passionate activist Jiří Hromada resonated with the public, as he left this world at the age of sixty-six. Renowned presenter Aleš Cibulka, who cherished a deep friendship with Hromada, recounted heartfelt memories of his dear friend while shedding light on the circumstances surrounding his untimely demise.
“Jiřík and I shared a bond that went beyond friendship. He was a remarkable friend who became an integral part of our inner circle. Many evenings, he and my partner Michal Jagelka engaged in animated discussions that continued into the early hours, passionately debating politics and various subjects,” Cibulka reminisced in an interview with eXtra.cz. His close relationship with Hromada’s family allowed him to understand the health struggles that ultimately led to his friend’s passing.
“I recently spoke with my cousin Petr Hromada, who tirelessly cared for Jiří alongside his wife and family during his last months. Regrettably, the convergence of several health issues was overwhelming for him. While I can’t pinpoint it to a single cause like a heart attack or stroke, it was clear that he faced a myriad of health challenges throughout his life,” Cibulka explained. Additionally, he emphasized that Hromada had battled health problems from a young age, recalling how the first five years of his life were spent in a sanatorium due to continual illness. “His health struggles were numerous and significant,” the moderator reflected somberly.
Cibulka candidly expressed concern over Hromada’s approach to his own health, indicating that his friend often neglected medical advice. “Ultimately, it seemed that he tried to escape from his problems. He had a rather indulgent lifestyle, enjoying rich foods like pork knee and beer, while not paying much heed to the counsel of physicians. This lifestyle, unfortunately, contributed to the culmination of his health issues,” Cibulka noted sadly. “He lived fully, passionately embracing life, which was part of why we have lost him too soon.” Cibulka concluded with a heartfelt declaration of how dearly he would miss his friend, emphasizing the profound impact Hromada had on those who knew him.
Ocial topics,” Aleš reminisced warmly.
**Interviewer:** Aleš, it’s clear how much Jiří meant to you. Can you share one specific memory that stands out from your time together?
**Aleš Cibulka:** Absolutely. One memory that always makes me smile is when Jiří and Michal would start their late-night debates. They could argue for hours, often over the most trivial things, like whether pineapple belongs on pizza or who was the best superhero. They brought out each other’s passion, and you could feel the energy in the room. It was always good-natured, and their laughter would echo long after the arguments had subsided.
**Interviewer:** You mentioned his health issues in the wake of his passing. It sounds like Jiří had a complex relationship with his wellbeing.
**Aleš Cibulka:** Yes, it was quite complicated. Jiří battled with various health problems all his life, starting from childhood. He spent his early years in a sanatorium due to his illnesses, which was a struggle, but he never let it define him. Unfortunately, he didn’t take his doctors’ advice seriously, which ultimately led to his failing health over the years. He often joked about it—living life to the fullest, but I wish he had taken better care of himself.
**Interviewer:** It seems like he embraced life with all its quirks. Do you think that spirit will be his legacy?
**Aleš Cibulka:** Definitely. Jiří’s vibrant spirit is what I will always remember. He knew how to grab life by the horns and dance—figuratively speaking! His sense of humor and zest for life, even in the face of adversity, was truly inspiring. He taught me the importance of enjoying each moment, but at the end of the day, it’s also a reminder for all of us to listen to our bodies and take care of ourselves.
**Interviewer:** His friendship clearly meant a lot to you. How do you plan to honor his memory moving forward?
**Aleš Cibulka:** I’ll honor Jiří by cherishing the memories we created together and by keeping our late-night debates alive—perhaps with a pint of beer and a plate of something delicious. And I hope to share his story, inspiring others to live fully but also to take their health seriously. Jiří laughed, debated, and loved life, and I will continue to celebrate that spirit in every way I can.
**Interviewer:** Thank you, Aleš, for sharing your heartfelt memories of Jiří. It’s clear his legacy will live on through your stories and the smiles he brought to so many.
**Aleš Cibulka:** Thank you. It’s been a pleasure to talk about him. We should all remember to live with joy and a bit less stubbornness towards our health!
