Minuto30.com .- The Medellín Public Services Company (EPM) has reported a temporary suspension of water service in several areas in the south of the city and in some sectors of Envigado, due to scheduled maintenance work.
The interruption of supply will begin at 9:00 pm this Tuesday, November 5 and it is expected that the service will be restored at approximately 4:00 am on Wednesday, November 6, which will affect the water supply for an approximate time of 7 hours.
The affected areas in Medellín include the neighborhoods El Tesoro, Los Balsos No. 1, Los Naranjos, San Lucas, Zúñiga and Altos del Poblado, while in the municipality of Envigado the sectors of Loma del Atravesado and Zúñiga will also see interruptions in service .
The cut especially affects areas included as follows:
From Calle 37B South to Calle 26 South between Carrera 24 and Carrera 27;
From Calle 26 Sur to Calle 16 AA Sur between Carrera 20 and Carrera 25B;
From Calle 16Sur to Calle 12 Sur between Carrera 18 and Carrera 22
The outage is due to the execution of work on the El Esmeraldal supply tank, which supplies water to these sectors. EPM has asked the community to take the necessary precautions and make rational use of water during the duration of the suspension.

**Interview with María Gómez, Local Resident and Community Leader**
**Editor:** Thank you for joining us, María. We understand that the temporary suspension of water service has hit the south of Medellín and parts of Envigado particularly hard. Can you tell us how this has affected your community?
**María Gómez:** Thank you for having me. Yes, the water outage is quite disruptive. Many families depend on a consistent water supply for their daily activities—cooking, cleaning, and hygiene. This seven-hour break forces people to adjust their routines significantly, and some families are not well-prepared to collect and store water.
**Editor:** What measures have residents taken to cope with this water outage?
**María Gómez:** Many residents are rushing to fill buckets and containers as soon as they hear about the outage. People are sharing tips on how to conserve whatever little water they have left. Community leaders are also organizing resources to distribute water to those who may not have enough stored, especially the elderly and families with young children.
**Editor:** Have there been any official communications from EPM about the cause of this water interruption?
**María Gómez:** EPM mentioned that it was a necessary maintenance procedure. While we understand the importance of maintenance, more communication about the schedule in advance would help residents plan better. Knowing the reasons behind such interruptions would also ease frustrations.
**Editor:** As a community leader, what would you like to see from EPM and local authorities moving forward in situations like this?
**María Gómez:** I think better communication is key. Not just about maintenance schedules, but also about educational campaigns on water conservation and contingency actions when outages occur. Additionally, establishing a more reliable emergency response system for such service interruptions would really help our community.
**Editor:** Thank you, María. Your insights are invaluable, and we hope the water service is restored promptly for your community.
**María Gómez:** Thank you for highlighting our situation. We need everyone’s support to get through this!
