Funeral services to honor Jerry’s life will take place at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 6, 2024. The ceremony will be held at the Chapel of the Pines Mausoleum, located within the serene setting of Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907, as arranged by McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory at 6874 Gentian Blvd, Columbus, GA 31907.
Born on September 23, 1956, in Columbus, Georgia, Jerry was the beloved son of Mrs. Helen Howze Youngblood and the late Johnny Walker. Before he retired, Jerry proudly served as a Sonic Inspector at Pratt and Whitney—career work that reflected his steadfast dedication and attention to detail. Throughout his life, he was known for exemplifying the spirit of a fighter, a tenacity that characterized his personal and professional endeavors.
Jerry had a passion for the great outdoors, often hosting friends and family for fishing trips at his pond, showcasing his love for nature. He had a unique tradition during the Christmas season of gifting brown paper bags filled with treats to family, friends, and even strangers, a gesture made even more special with the participation of his children and grandchildren. This selfless act highlighted Jerry’s gentle heart beneath his tough exterior. A man of few words, he retained a vibrant personality and an infectious sense of humor that left a profound impact on all who knew him, making moments with him memorable.
His home became a sanctuary for gatherings, welcoming people from various walks of life, and Jerry will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to community, a legacy that will be carried forward by his children and grandchildren.
Other than his mother, Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Walker of Box Springs, GA; son Jason Walker and his wife Shelby, both residing in Box Springs, GA; daughters Jessica Satterfield and Jamie Huchelba, along with her husband Buddy, from Box Springs and Hamilton, GA, respectively; and his sister Sherry Clegg and her husband Sam, who live in Cataula, GA. He cherished his grandchildren: Shelby Satterfield, Laney Satterfield, Mason Satterfield, Novalee Huckelba, Delilah Huckelba, Buddy Huckelba II, Hayden Walker, JT Walker, Alyssa Walker, and Roscoe Walker. He is also survived by his nieces, Vanessa, Tammy, and Joy, as well as his close friend, Al Brooks.
