The Palestinian President briefed the Secretary-General of the Arab League on the latest developments related to the Palestinian issue, in light of the continuation of the “genocidal” war against the Palestinian people.
Abbas also briefed Aboul Gheit on the Palestinian Authority’s efforts to “stop the continuing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.”
The meeting discussed efforts to implement the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice in accordance with the resolution of the United Nations General Assembly, and the hoped-for Arab and international efforts during the extraordinary joint Arab-Islamic follow-up summit in the city of Riyadh, which will be held on November 11.
This came in the presence of the Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Hussein Al-Sheikh, the Head of the General Intelligence Service, Major General Majid Faraj, the Chief Justice of Palestine, the President’s Advisor for Religious Affairs and Islamic Relations, Mahmoud Al-Habbash, and Ambassador Hossam Zaki, Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States.
On Wednesday, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia called for holding a joint Arab-Islamic follow-up summit in the Kingdom on November 11, to discuss the continuation of the “Israeli aggression” against the Palestinian territories and Lebanon, and developments in the current situation in the region.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry said, in a statement, that the upcoming summit represents an extension of the joint Arab-Islamic summit held in Riyadh on November 11, 2023.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry once again expressed its “condemnation and denunciation of the continued crimes and violations against the Palestinian people by the Israeli occupation authorities, and the Israeli attacks and violations against our brothers in the Lebanese Republic.”

**Dr. Haddad:** Absolutely, it’s a critical time for Palestine. President Abbas is conveying the urgency of the humanitarian crisis and the ongoing violence faced by the Palestinian people. The term ”genocidal war” that he used underscores the severity of the situation, drawing attention to the need for immediate international support and intervention.
**Interviewer:** Abbas informed Aboul Gheit about the developments in the Palestinian Authority as well. What are some of the key issues currently facing the Palestinian leadership?
