Why Watch South Indian Movies?

Why Watch South Indian Movies?

Everyone agrees that the TV drama and family time formula is over. Now in homes, elders will be seen sitting in front of the TV or children watching cartoons. Of course, this is the type of child whose mobile is still out of reach.

The difference between small and big screen is in its place, now is the age of streaming platforms and our youth are also watching less TV and more on small screen. Especially since the Corona epidemic, streaming platforms have made a special place in our lives.

When the lockdown started during Corona, sometimes we got the luxury of ‘alternate off’ and sometimes ‘work from home’, so believe me, these few months were so legendary that we are at home and we don’t have to go anywhere. If you have to go out for a story, just return home in a few hours. Days of complete carelessness like the colorful days of college, leisure is leisure is luxury.

We’ve been full-time jobbers for years, spending even Sundays running errands for the week. If we were having a long nap in the afternoon, the pleasure could only be felt, not described.

The background of all these things is that you cannot go out during the lockdown, so you have to find some activity and entertainment at home. This quest led us to South Indian movies on YouTube.

Of course, most movies are made and watched in Bollywood in the world. But now South Indian films are also making their mark internationally. Are you familiar with South Indian cinema? And have you seen these movies?

No! So see. At first, like us, you will not understand anything, then their actions, clothes, aspects of common life are so simple that it becomes fun and then you will start to understand the difference between Bollywood and South Indian cinema.

These films also revealed that even at this age, Rajinikanth is considered a god in the South. The first South Indian film we got our hands on was Aiyyaa. It is a completely different, ordinary but entertaining movie. The movie had Rani Mukherjee as the heroine and Prithvi Skumaran as the hero. We were not familiar with the name and look of the hero but started watching the movie with subtitles because of Rani Mukherjee. We never like to watch movies with subtitles. Tell yourself whether the person is staring at the screen or at the written sentences, the fun becomes crisp.

Well the movie was full entertainment. We held our bellies and laughed throughout the movie. The film begins with a needy relationship in a newspaper, and Rani is the girl for whom a relationship is being sought. I found the first scene interesting and then went on to watch the movie. Although the subject of the film is simple and ordinary, the treatment and cinematography were different from other Indian films. Immediately we sent the link with an introductory note to the home WhatsApp group so that anyone else could enjoy it.

After that, after watching half a dozen South Indian films, I realized that the cinema here is more mature. These simple and low budget films were telling the story of a common man. In which the clothes are also taken in local style and the scenery and the greenery of Bengal is also pleasing to the eyes.

Then on YouTube itself we got South Indian movies with dubbing. Thus, our interest in South Indian cinema increased. Not every movie of his was good but some actresses and actors understood that their work is better. Like Vishal Shah’s ‘The Return of Abhimanyu’ and ‘Dashing Detective’. Not every movie of his is good but still some are different.

The uniqueness of South Indian films

The biggest thing is that Rajinikanth’s photo will be found in every South Indian home because he is the real hero of the South. Rather, his famous dialogue Yenna Rascala, Mind it is no longer just a part of South cinema, but is copied by Shah Rukh Khan in ‘Om Shanti Om’. Initially, we thought that South India had either Bengalis or Tamils. But after watching his films, it was found that Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada cinema is also making good films here.

The films also revealed that the favorite attire of South men is the white lehenga. Like in our country it is called dhoti and even today its use is common in many rural areas. But the people of the South make the best use of the langi, no matter the urban or rural life. It is a favorite men’s wear for every function and every occasion.

Langi is so popular there that Shah Rukh is seen dancing on the Langi dance. Not only this, women’s preparation is not complete without a Kanji Worm saree and gajra. We have also thought that if fate gives us an opportunity and we too are ever chosen to be in Calcutta or Madras i.e., we will definitely visit the local ‘flower market’ along with the historical buildings. Where the garlands and gujres made of various flowers attract hearts.

But the most interesting thing is their food and flavors. ie sambhar, idli and dosa. Which are the favorite foods here. In the movie ‘Ey’, Rani says to the hero while dreaming that you love me, I will give you Adli Dosa. That means love and idli dosa in south we are considered weight. This scene is something special, if you don’t enjoy it, let me know.

We have eaten dosa in Karachi and also in Bhopal but we did not find the taste special. Tasteless and bland or else we didn’t feel like eating it with chutneys. But on this sentence, a South Indian will say the same example, the fun of ginger!

We all know that many popular Bollywood movies were copies of South Cinema. Like ‘Dharsham,’ ‘Tere Naam,’ ‘Gajni,’ ‘Sathiya’ and ‘Pink.’ All these first became a part of South Indian cinema then turned out to be Bollywood blockbuster films. Most are now available on streaming platforms as well.

Watched ‘Leela’ last few days. It is definitely a great movie based on Prag Akbar’s novel. In which the growing extremism in the Indian society and the future is depicted. In ‘Leela’, this difficult subject is well presented on the cinema screen.

And now let’s talk about the recent record-breaking Telugu film ‘Pushpa’, which stole our hearts. The hero of this film, if he was in our film, would have been absolutely zero. The story of this anti-hero film was also the most common. But he is the rejected hero of the society who shakes up the good gang by becoming a superhero. Well the movie passed us by but the fight and Pushpa aka Allu Arjun’s dance killed it.

Then the South Indian film KGF Chapter 2 which was released two weeks ago has also hit the ground. According to ‘India Today’, it has done a business of 900 crores in just two weeks. It is hoped that the target of 1000 crores will be crossed soon. It has been released in five languages worldwide. That means South movies are becoming popular all over the world.

Fights in South Indian Movies

Once the fight starts in the film, that ordinary hero becomes a superhero at once. The most interesting scene is when during the fight, instead of knives, daggers come out.

With us, these kinds of sharp knives and big knives are seen only on Bakr Eid. Efforts are made to clean them and put them back within these two or three days. But after seeing their use in South movies, it was realized that here these fruits are found in every house from the stall of the fruit sellers. We found these knives inspired by Arab culture less and more swords.

When we saw this fight for the first time, we were fascinated at first and then laughed. Seeing these violent scenes, at first, one does not understand where these bullets and bullets came from and how they reached their hands. Did it come out of the sleeve or was it blown somewhere in the dhoti itself? These people are running after the enemy holding a langi in one hand and this long baghda in the other hand.

Simplicity: The heroes and heroines of South films are completely different. In terms of clothes, houses and moods, actors and heroes seem less and more common people. This is the case with heroines and female actors. A cotton saree and a function scene, Kanchi Worm went through the hair with the saree.

We can now say that the special effects and treatment are also good in these low budget films. Camera work is also better. Therefore, if ever your heart wants to see something different, then you will watch a South movie.
