The government’s overcharging of colon cancer self-tests is scandalous and provocative

Question to the Minister of Health on the subject «Cost overrun of self-diagnostic tests in the context of colon cancer prevention action through TAA» they filed twenty-five (25) MPs of SYRIA-PS on his initiative Member of Parliament for Achaia and Head of the Health Department of SYRIZA-PS Andreas Panagiotopoulos.

The question focuses on its fact provocative overpricing of self-diagnostic tests for the early diagnosis of colon cancer in the context of the implementation of the relevant action, an action which has been included and financed by the Recovery and Resilience Fund.

Specifically, exactly the same selftest kit is compensated by EOPYY for two (2) euros, while for the needs of the aforementioned action this is charged eight (8) euros, i.e. 300% more expensive. It should be noted that the EU resources of the TAA come from taxes of the citizens of the European Union, therefore also of the taxpayers in Greece.

In addition and not negligible is the fact that the seriousness that such a process requires must, in a modern social state, be ensured by properly trained and materially competent doctors.

The smell of “remoula” and the once again monstrous premium reserved by the Minister of Health, Mr. Adonis-Spyridon Georgiadis, for private healthcare providersof course with public money, i.e. taxpayers’ money, they add another one neoliberal “scandal” in the admittedly impressive record of the neo-right Mitsotakis SA government.
