One of the most innovative features launched by Apple this year was, without a doubt, those linked to hearing health of users in popular AirPods Pro 2.

With them, it is possible to make a hearing test (like those more traditional, in audiometry exams) and use it as a hearing aid (Hearing Aid) — the latter, specifically for those with mild or moderate hearing loss, in addition to using hearing protection (Hearing Protection), which is activated by default with the AirPods Pro and is capable of reducing external sounds at a frequency of 48,000 times per second.

Even though they are so beneficial, these features depend on approval from health regulatory bodies in each country where the AirPods Pro 2 are sold, such as the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) from the United States and Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency) from Brazil. In the latter case, however, there is no prediction for this to occur.

The good news is that, through a newly discovered “workaround”, you can take the hearing test without needing to be in one of the countries and regions where this has already been approved. Find out how! How to take an AirPods Pro 2 hearing test in Brazil

On the iPhone connected to the AirPods Pro 2, go to Safari and copy and paste the following address:

x-apple-health://HearingAppPlugin.healthplugin/HearingTest

Then, press “Go” on the keyboard and “Open” so that the page opens the native Health application (Health).

Place AirPods Pro 2 in your ears and tap “Get Started” to proceed. Let’s see how long Apple will leave this loophole open to everyone… 🙃

Of course, this is just a “sample” of Apple’s three newly released hearing health features for the AirPods Pro 2. Taking the test alone doesn’t mean you’ll have access to the others, like turning the headphones into a hearing aid. fact.

**Interview on AirPods Pro 2’s Hearing Health Features**

**Date:**⁢ November 3, 2024

**Time:** 3:00 PM

**Interviewer (I):** Today we’re diving into one of the most exciting⁤ innovations from Apple this ⁣year—the ⁣AirPods Pro 2 and their⁣ clinical grade ⁤hearing health features. Joining me is audiologist and hearing technology expert, Dr. Susan Carter. Welcome, Dr. Carter!

**Dr. Susan‌ Carter (D):** Thank you for having me! It’s great to discuss this topic.

**I:** Let’s start with the big news—AirPods Pro 2 now offer a hearing aid feature. How does this compare to traditional hearing aids?

**D:** ⁤Well, the AirPods Pro 2 provide a ⁢unique advantage by incorporating a⁣ hearing aid function that is incredibly user-friendly. Traditional⁢ hearing aids often require professional fitting‍ and programming, while with the AirPods Pro 2, users⁢ can simply toggle the‌ feature on their devices. This accessibility‌ is truly transformative for individuals with mild to moderate hearing loss.

**I:** That’s fascinating! You mentioned‌ a hearing test that resembles traditional audiometry. How does that work with the AirPods Pro 2?

**D:** Indeed! The hearing test is designed to evaluate⁢ the user’s hearing capabilities. The AirPods⁣ Pro 2 utilize sound profiles and the device’s technology to tailor the experience⁣ for the user’s specific hearing needs, making it both ⁣an evaluative and corrective tool.

**I:** It’s impressive how technology is bridging gaps‍ in health care. However, there are regulatory hurdles, right?

**D:** Yes, that’s correct. For the hearing aid feature to ⁤be officially recognized, it requires approval from health regulatory bodies like the FDA‍ in the‌ U.S. and Anvisa in Brazil. This can delay the availability of ⁢these features in certain markets, but it’s essential for ensuring safety and efficacy.

**I:** There’s a workaround enabling users to take the hearing⁤ test without being ‍in an ⁣approved region. Can you‌ elaborate on that?

**D:** While I can’t promote any specific methods, there⁣ are reports of users finding ways to‍ access the⁣ hearing test feature through settings adjustments in their devices. It’s‌ crucial to‍ note that while these workarounds ⁢may allow access, they may ⁤not offer the same level of reliability or safety as the regulatory-approved versions.

**I:** That’s important to keep in mind. As we⁣ look⁣ ahead, ‌how do you see the future of‌ hearing ⁢health technology evolving?

**D:** I’m optimistic! Innovations like the AirPods Pro 2 are just the beginning. With advancements in AI ⁣and machine learning, we could see even more personalized and effective solutions ⁣for hearing health. There’s a strong push towards integrating health technology into⁢ daily life, making hearing health care more accessible than ever before.
