Our position from the beginning is that NAB is an institution created by a dictator and it should be closed: Bilawal Bhutto

Pakistan People’s Party Chairman and former Federal Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto has said that the decision of the Supreme Court regarding the NAB amendment case was expected. Bilawal Bhutto said that political, economic and constitutional crisis will be discussed in the CEC meeting.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari while holding a press conference with the PP leaders at the end of the two-day meeting of the Central Executive Council said that NAB is not a new thing for us and we have two opinions in this regard, the first is that NAB was created by a dictator. There is an institution, it should be closed and the second is that accountability should be undifferentiated.

Bilawal Bhutto said that this decision of the Supreme Court was expected, since Gilani Sahib, we have been handling NAB cases under old and new laws, this decision does not matter to us. The chairman of PPP said that history will judge the performance of the judges who came after Iftikhar Chaudhry, Umar Atta Bandial was the last judge among the judges to be reinstated by Iftikhar Chaudhry as a result of the lawyers’ movement.

Bilawal Bhutto said that the political, economic and constitutional crisis was discussed in the CEC meeting and the resolution was also passed. CEC has given powers to raise voice in all forums for elections.

He said that the Election Commission should give the date of the elections immediately, the strategy regarding the election will be put forward at the appropriate time after the date of the elections, we should be provided with a level playing field, we have the spirit of public service, so we are never disappointed. While today on TV, look at whose looks are looking disappointed.

Bilawal Bhutto made it clear that we have a level playing field complaint from a political party, God willing all the issues will be resolved then I will speak openly in front of you.

He said that the CEC has given the responsibility to Asif Ali Zardari to remove the grievances related to our election and other aspects and solve them through dialogue. Our demands regarding the rest of the elections are in front of everyone.

Bilawal Bhutto said that he was in favor of talking with PTI before May 9 and was trying to agree on the date of the election. Some PTI people planned to attack military installations including GHQ and Jinnah House on May 9.

The former foreign minister said that the PPP will only talk to those politicians who were not involved in May 9, the May 9 incident was about to cross the red line and now it should be resolved politically or administratively. He clarified that the doors of PPP negotiations are open for all non-military political organizations.

**Interview with Bilawal Bhutto ⁢Zardari**

**Interviewer:** Good afternoon, Mr. Bhutto. Thank you for joining us today.⁤ You recently held⁣ a press conference after the Central⁤ Executive ⁢Council meeting. Can you share your ⁤thoughts‌ on the Supreme Court’s decision⁣ regarding the NAB amendment case?

**Bilawal Bhutto Zardari:** Good afternoon, and thank you for having‍ me. Yes, I believe the Supreme Court’s decision was anticipated. For‌ a long time, we’ve been navigating NAB cases under both the old and ⁢new laws, so this outcome doesn’t significantly impact our‍ stance ⁢or ⁤operations.

**Interviewer:** You mentioned in your press conference that NAB was created by‍ a dictator. Can you elaborate on your views regarding the role of⁤ this ⁣institution?

**Bilawal Bhutto Zardari:** Certainly. NAB is rooted in a period of authoritarian rule, and its establishment was inherently political.‌ While I hold two opinions on this⁣ matter—one advocating⁤ for its closure and the other for undifferentiated accountability—it’s essential to recognize that any institution designed for accountability should operate impartially ⁤and fairly.

**Interviewer:** You remarked that the performance of the judges who succeeded Iftikhar⁤ Chaudhry would ultimately be judged by history. ⁢What concerns ⁢you about the current judicial landscape?

**Bilawal⁤ Bhutto Zardari:** ‍My concern revolves around ⁢the independence and impartiality of the judiciary. There have been various interpretations of the‍ law that seem to align more‌ with⁤ political agendas ⁣than ‌with justice. It’s vital for the health of our democracy that the judiciary maintains its integrity and the public’s trust.

**Interviewer:** During ‌your meeting, you spoke about the political, economic, and⁢ constitutional crises facing Pakistan. What are the key areas of focus for the Pakistan People’s Party in addressing these challenges?

**Bilawal Bhutto Zardari:** The challenges we’re currently facing are complex and ‍interconnected. We⁣ need to prioritize economic ⁤stability, ensure that constitutional rights are upheld, and engage in ⁤constructive political dialogue. Our CEC meeting was a step ⁤toward crafting a cohesive strategy to tackle these pressing issues.

**Interviewer:** Thank you‌ for sharing your insights, Mr. Bhutto. As the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, do you think foreign relations⁤ will play ⁤a role in alleviating these crises?

**Bilawal Bhutto Zardari:** Absolutely. Foreign relations are crucial ‌for economic revitalization and securing⁣ support in times‍ of crisis.‌ Engaging with the international community can open avenues for investment and collaboration⁢ that will benefit Pakistan economically and politically.

**Interviewer:** Thank you, Mr.⁢ Bhutto, for your time and thoughts. We appreciate‌ your insights on these important matters.

**Bilawal Bhutto Zardari:**⁢ Thank you for having me. It’s always a pleasure to discuss the‌ future of our country.
