Chile investigates the alleged kidnapping of a Venezuelan soldier in Santiago

The Chilean Prosecutor’s Office investigates the alleged kidnapping of retired lieutenant, Ronald Ojeda Moreno. The former political prisoner, Ivan Simonovis, denounced on his social networks that agents from the General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence (Dgcim) infiltrated Chilean territory and kidnapped the former military man.

According to Radio Bío Bío, unknown persons with a Venezuelan accent posed as immigration officials in Chile and broke into the residence of the former military man who received political asylum at the end of last year.

The Chilean authorities began an operation to find the retired military officer, after his relatives reported his disappearance to the Chilean Public Ministry.

The Special Police Investigations Brigade (BIPE) Anti-kidnapping of the Investigative Police (PDI) reported through a brief note that it is in charge of the investigation, although it cannot “provide further information since it was declared secret.”

On Ojeda Moreno’s social networks, he highlights that in March 2017 he was kidnapped by the Venezuelan government and transferred to the headquarters of the General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence (DGCIM) in Caracas, where he claims to have been tortured. Furthermore, he later managed to escape from the Ramo Verde military prison.

Last month, the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) demoted 33 soldiers accused of being “traitors” for their alleged involvement in conspiratorial plans against the regime; Ronald Ojeda Moreno appears on that list.

As detailed by the media Infobae, the Venezuelan prosecutor Tarek Saab pointed to Ojeda Moreno as a participant in “White Bracelet”, an alleged plan to attack the Táchira Infantry Division and the First Black Barracks, and then go to Caracas and assassinate the man himself. Ripe.

For his part, Guarequena Gutiérrez, former representative of the interim government of Venezuela, reacted to the disappearance of the former lieutenant of the Venezuelan Army.

“At this time the Venezuelan community is on alert due to the disappearance of Lieutenant Ronald Ojeda Moreno”said Guarequena Gutiérrez. “It is unknown at this moment where he is, whether he left Chile or not, nor can we say who were the ones who kidnapped them, because so far what there is is a video that does not reveal any further facts.”.

If it is true that they (the kidnappers) are officials sent by the human rights violating regime of Venezuela in Chile, it would be an escalation, a conflict between two nations.“added the former representative of the defunct interim government.

Recently, the Venezuelan tyranny demoted this officer… The information I receive is that he would already be in Caracas”added lawyer and human rights activist, Tamara Suju.

For his part, Chilean deputy Tomás de Rementería, president of the Foreign Relations Commission, stated that it is “very serious“if it is proven that there was a foreign intelligence operation on Chilean soil:”I am going to ask the House Intelligence Committee to summon the authorities of the intelligence agencies to see the information they have and also to the Foreign Relations Committee to do an analysis of what happened, if there is information and If the Venezuelan Government was asked if this was actually happening”.
