**Interview with Zaka Ashraf, Head of the Pakistan Cricket Board Management Committee**
**Interviewer:** Thank you for joining us today, Mr. Ashraf. We want to discuss the recent restoration of Sarfaraz Nawaz’s pension. What prompted the PCB to finally resolve this long-standing issue?
**Zaka Ashraf:** Thank you for having me. It was truly saddening to see a player of Sarfaraz’s caliber deprived of his pension for so long. When I learned about his situation, I felt it was our duty to address this matter and uphold the values that cricket embodies, especially when it comes to our former players who have contributed so much to the sport.
**Interviewer:** What was the process like in meeting with Sarfaraz Nawaz and restoring his payments?
**Zaka Ashraf:** Our meeting was constructive. I handed Sarfaraz a check for all outstanding payments under the Players Welfare Policy. It was essential for us to ensure that Sarfaraz understood the importance of adhering to the code of conduct. Thankfully, he has assured us that he will abide by it moving forward.
**Interviewer:** Can you elaborate on why his payments were suspended in the first place?
**Zaka Ashraf:** Yes, the payments were initially suspended due to disciplinary actions related to violations of the players’ welfare policy. However, our focus should now be on the positive resolution of this matter and supporting Sarfaraz in his journey ahead.
**Interviewer:** What message do you hope this action sends to other players regarding the PCB’s commitment to its former athletes?
**Zaka Ashraf:** This restoration is a clear indication that the PCB values its players, both current and former. We want to make it known that while we uphold standards of conduct, we are also here to support and protect the welfare of all our players. Sarfaraz’s case is a crucial reminder that we have a responsibility to our cricketing family.
**Interviewer:** Lastly, what are your hopes for Sarfaraz Nawaz moving forward?
**Zaka Ashraf:** I hope that Sarfaraz can now focus on his future, perhaps even sharing his vast experience with the younger generation. He has a lot to offer cricket, and we want to support him in any way we can as he continues his journey in this sport.
