The major security police operation in the Mühlviertel that began on October 28, 2024 was ended on November 2, 2024 after the suspect’s body was found. Interior Minister Gerhard Karner took this development of the situation as an opportunity to address the police officers deployed, but also their relatives and the population.
“First of all, I would like to express my deepest sympathy to the families, relatives and friends of the murdered,” said Interior Minister Gerhard Karner.
The decisive factor in the operation was the successful interdisciplinary cooperation between various units under the most difficult and dangerous conditions within the police family.
“The entire Upper Austrian police, together with the Cobra task force and many police forces from other federal states, such as operational units or service dog units, have successfully carried out one of the largest manhunts in recent decades in an unprecedented collaboration over the past few days. I would like to thank everyone – from the district forces to the criminal investigation service to the special and special forces – sincerely and with the greatest respect for this highly professional and consistent intervention. My thanks also go to the local population for their understanding and support in our measures.”
“I would also like to thank the public for their decisive and active cooperation in the search by providing us with 400 tips, including two that made a significant contribution to clearing up the case,” concluded Karner.

**Interview on Green Hydrogen Production in Europe**
**Date:** November 2, 2024
**Location:** Vienna
**Interviewer:** [Your Name]
**Guest:** Dr. Anna Müller, Energy Policy Expert and Advocate for Sustainable Energy Solutions
—
**Interviewer:** Thank you for joining us today, Dr. Müller. The “H2EU+Store” initiative was launched to accelerate green hydrogen production across Europe. Can you explain why this is so crucial for our climate objectives?
**Dr. Müller:** Absolutely, thank you for having me. Green hydrogen is essential for decarbonizing sectors that are hard to electrify, such as heavy industry and transportation. By ramping up production, we can significantly reduce our carbon emissions and move towards a more sustainable energy system, which is vital for achieving our climate-neutral goals by 2050.
**Interviewer:** In the press release, it mentioned that the production of green hydrogen is vital for an integrated energy system in Europe. What does an integrated energy system entail?
**Dr. Müller:** An integrated energy system refers to a network that optimizes various energy sources—renewables, hydrogen, and traditional fuels—to work together efficiently. Green hydrogen acts as an energy carrier that can store surplus renewable energy. This allows us to balance supply and demand more effectively and enhances energy security across Europe.
**Interviewer:** The timeline for scaling up production is ambitious. What challenges do you see in meeting these goals by the targeted dates?
**Dr. Müller:** There are several challenges, including technology advancements, infrastructure development, and investments. We need to ensure that we have the necessary electrolyzers and renewable energy sources in place. Additionally, scaling up production requires significant financial backing and international cooperation to develop efficient supply chains.
**Interviewer:** What role do you think policy plays in overcoming these challenges and supporting the transition to green hydrogen?
**Dr. Müller:** Policy is fundamental. Governments need to establish clear regulations, provide incentives for research and development, and support investments in hydrogen infrastructure. Collaborative frameworks between countries will also be crucial for building a robust green hydrogen market and ensuring that all EU member states can benefit from this transition.
**Interviewer:** As we move forward, what can individuals and organizations do to support green hydrogen initiatives like “H2EU+Store”?
**Dr. Müller:** Awareness and advocacy are key. Individuals can educate themselves about the benefits of green hydrogen and advocate for supportive policies. Organizations involved in energy should consider investing in hydrogen research and development. The more we show demand for green hydrogen solutions, the more likely it is for stakeholders to prioritize them.
**Interviewer:** Thank you, Dr. Müller, for sharing your insights with us today. It’s clear that while the path to a hydrogen-powered future may be challenging, it is indeed achievable with concerted efforts from all sectors.
**Dr. Müller:** Thank you for having me. It’s an exciting time for energy transition, and I look forward to seeing the progress we can make together.
