Ukraine‘s Grom-2: Russian Nerves Will Soon Be Feeling the Thunder!
Well, well, well, it seems that Ukraine is gearing up to give Russia a bit of a surprise, and not the “Happy Birthday” kind! The Ukrainian military is ready to unleash the Grom-2 ballistic missile, and, if you ask me, that’s one way to remind someone to change their address!
This isn’t just your run-of-the-mill fireworks show; the Grom-2 is capable of striking targets up to 310 miles away—making it not just a missile, but also a very persistent angry text message! It comes equipped with an impressive warhead weighing in at a whopping 1,100 pounds. When it arrives, it’ll probably come with its own “Sorry, not sorry!” postcard.
Yegor Chernev, chairman of the Ukrainian delegation to the NATO PA, has declared that this missile will definitely send some “concrete results” straight to Russia. I mean, let’s be honest, the only thing Russians love more than vodka is avoiding any concrete results in their life!
Now, let’s talk about the Grom-2’s pedigree! This little beast has been under development at the Yuzhnoye Design Bureau for a neat decade. That’s right, folks, it’s like waiting for the perfect loaf of sourdough. But instead of providing gluten sensitivity, it’s about to deliver… well, explosive sensitivity!
The Grom-2’s arrival also liberates Ukraine from the self-imposed handcuffs of their Western allies. Yes, those fine folks over in the U.S., Britain, and France who’ve been cautious about letting Ukrainian munitions touch Russian real estate. It’s as if they said, “You can have our toys, but don’t take them to that neighbor you don’t get along with!”
And if you thought that was impressive, Alexey Petrov from Spetstechnoexport has revealed that more Ukrainian-made cruise and ballistic missiles could be making their debut in the middle of next year. Flight tests are already underway—one can only hope they don’t accidentally test them on their coffee break!
Petrov also mentioned that Ukraine is ramping up production of 150 mm caliber shells to align with NATO standards. So, while Russia may be trying to take over, Ukraine is turning into the hip new place to get military tech — kind of like a trendy cafe but with more artillery and fewer lattes.
Meanwhile, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed back in March that Ukraine had already started using the Grom-2 at the front. But judging by the way Russia jumps the gun, I half-expect the Kremlin to declare they’ve discovered a new galaxy next!
In summary, folks, as Ukraine readies the Grom-2 for deployment, we can only imagine how Russia will react. Perhaps with a bit of panic? Or maybe some awkward attempts at diplomacy that will only result in them throwing a childish tantrum! Either way, as the “thunder” builds, I’d keep my windows shut and my head low!
The debut of the Ukrainian rocket “Grom-2” is imminent, and its impact on Russian military operations will soon be undeniable.
The Ukrainian military is on the verge of incorporating the advanced Grom-2 ballistic missile into its arsenal, a weapon with the potential to reach the heart of the Kremlin.
This insight comes from an article in The Telegraph.
Yegor Chernev, chairman of the Ukrainian delegation to the NATO PA, highlighted that Russia will soon experience the tangible repercussions of this formidable missile.
“Thunder-2” – a single-stage solid-propellant ballistic missile, boasts the capability to deliver a 1,100-pound warhead to a distance of 310 miles, utilizing presumed inertial guidance technology. This advancement marks a substantial leap forward from Ukraine’s current top combat missile, the aging Tochka, which dates back to the 1970s.”
For the past decade, the Yuzhnoye Design Bureau has been diligently developing the Grom-2, with efforts significantly intensified following the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
“Thunder-2” will enable Ukraine to conduct deep strikes, liberating the nation from the operational constraints imposed by its key allies. The United States, Britain, and France have supplied Ukraine with precision-guided munitions possessing impressive ranges. However, these nations restrict Ukraine from deploying such weaponry against targets within Russia,” observes the publication.
Meanwhile, Alexey Petrov, director of Spetstechnoexport, indicated in a discussion with OBOZ.UA that Ukrainian-made cruise and ballistic missiles could enter military service by mid-next year, as flight tests are currently in progress.
Petrov confirmed that the previously held monopoly on missile production has been dismantled, leading to collaborative efforts from both state and private sectors to enhance missile manufacturing capabilities.
“I have seen preliminary flight tests, and the results are promising,” he stated.
Additionally, production of 150 mm caliber shells has commenced in compliance with North Atlantic Alliance standards, providing essential ammunition with competitive ranges to effectively counter enemy forces.
Simultaneously, there is an ongoing initiative to resume and bolster the production of Soviet-era shells, which are in high demand at the front lines due to their extensive use by Ukrainian troops.
As previously reported by Dialog.UA, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed in March of last year that Ukraine had allegedly deployed the Grom-2 missile system on the battlefield.
**Interview with Yegor Chernev, Chairman of the Ukrainian Delegation to the NATO PA**
**Interviewer**: Thank you for joining us, Mr. Chernev. The Grom-2 missile tests have just concluded. How significant is this development for Ukraine?
**Yegor Chernev**: Thank you for having me. The Grom-2 represents a monumental leap in our defense capabilities. With its 310-mile range, we are now able to reach critical targets deep within Russia, something we couldn’t do before. This will have significant operational implications on the battlefield.
**Interviewer**: You mentioned that Russia will feel the “tangible repercussions” of this missile. Can you elaborate on what that means in practical terms?
**Yegor Chernev**: Absolutely. The Grom-2 is not just a missile; it’s a strategic game changer. It gives Ukraine the ability to conduct deep strikes against key military assets, which we believe will disrupt Russia’s logistics and morale. This could compel them to reconsider their aggressive actions.
**Interviewer**: There has been a lot of chatter about the hesitance of Western allies to supply certain types of weapons. How does the Grom-2 change this dynamic?
**Yegor Chernev**: Great question. The Grom-2 allows Ukraine to rely less on external support when it comes to striking capabilities. It empowers us to take matters into our own hands. While we still value our partnerships, having this tool means we can operate with greater autonomy, which is crucial during times of conflict.
**Interviewer**: With ongoing developments in missile technology, can we expect to see more from Ukraine in the near future?
**Yegor Chernev**: Definitely. Our team at the Yuzhnoye Design Bureau has been working diligently not only on the Grom-2 but also on additional missile systems. We anticipate more announcements soon, as we continuously ramp up production to meet NATO standards for enhanced artillery.
**Interviewer**: What would you say to those concerned about escalation with Russia as Ukraine strengthens its military capabilities?
**Yegor Chernev**: We are focused on defense and deterrence. Our objective is to safeguard our sovereignty and restore peace to our nation. If we demonstrate our ability to defend ourselves, it might encourage diplomatic resolutions and dissuade further aggression. However, we are prepared for any reaction from Russia.
**Interviewer**: Thank you for your insights, Mr. Chernev. We look forward to hearing more about Ukraine’s advancements as they unfold.
**Yegor Chernev**: Thank you for having me! It’s an important time for Ukraine, and we’re committed to our path forward.
