ANKARA, Turkey.— This Wednesday, a attack on a military aircraft factoryproperty of the State, on the outskirts of Ankarawhich the Government has considered as “terrorist attack”which left at least one dead and several injured.

Ali YerlikayaMinister of the Interior, in a message on social networkdescribed as terrorist actions to the explosions and shootings recorded at the entrance of the TUSAŞ company factorywhich manufactures military aircraft, helicopters and military aeronautical material.

“A terrorist attack has been carried out against the TUSAŞ facilities in Kahramankazan (district) in Ankara. The attack has left one dead and injured,” the minister wrote.

A large number of police, as well as firefighters and ambulances, went to the scene and, according to the NTV radio station, shooting continues inside the factory.

That media outlet indicated that the factory workers went to shelters and there was talk of the possibility that some may have been taken hostage.

The CNNTürk channel assures that the attackers arrived in a taxi to the factory and that at least one blew himself up at the door while others managed to access the premises.
The authorities have sent special units by helicopter to the site, the aforementioned media say.

TUSAŞ develops and manufactures some of the most prestigious military aircraft in the Turkish weapons program, such as the Kaan fighter-bomber, still in the pipeline, the Hürjet training aircraft or the Hürkus light aircraft.
