WhatsApp Launches Custom Lists Feature for Easier Chat Management

WhatsApp Launches Custom Lists Feature for Easier Chat Management

Jakarta

WhatsApp has just released the Lists feature which makes it easier for users to manage and search for messages. This is an expansion of the Filter feature that was launched a few months ago.

The List feature makes it easy for users to create special filters according to the desired categories. This filter is expected to make it easier for users to find important chats with family, friends, coworkers, and others.

Previously, WhatsApp only provided three filter options, namely ‘All’, ‘Unread’ and ‘Favorites’. Thanks to this new feature, users can create their own filters with categories such as ‘Neighbors’, ‘Friends’, ‘Office’, and others as desired.

“With the Lists feature, you can now filter chats by custom categories of your choice,” said WhatsApp in his official statement.

“Whether it’s lists for family, work, or neighbors, the Lists feature will help you focus on the conversations that matter most, when you need them most,” he continued.

How to register on the WhatsApp application

  • Make sure the WhatsApp application is running the latest version
  • Open the WhatsApp application then pull down to display the filter tab
  • Tap the plus ‘+’ icon to create a new list
  • Enter the name of the list as desired, and add individual or group chats to join the list
  • Tap the ‘Create list’ button if you think it’s enough.

After creating a list, you can edit the list to change the name and add or delete chat members in it just by pressing and holding the list you want to edit. This option can also be used to delete lists that have been created.

It seems like WhatsApp does not limit the number of Lists a user can create. If you have made a large list, just swipe the screen to the right or left to find the filter you want.

By default, the WhatsApp application will still display the ‘All’ category which contains all messages in chronological order. The List feature has been launched and will be available to all WhatsApp users in the next few weeks

WhatsApp’s New Lists Feature: Finally, A Way to Tame Your Chat Chaos!

So, WhatsApp has outdone itself this time with the introduction of its new Lists feature.
You heard it here first, folks! No longer will we have to sift through an endless sea of chats
like we’re some digital archaeologists uncovering the lost messages of El Dorado. With this feature,
finding that one important message amid a cascade of “do you want to play Candy Crush?”
and “OMG, look at this cat video!” is going to be almost too easy.

The feature is supposed to be a game changer. We had filters before, which were about as
helpful as a chocolate teapot — seriously, ‘All’, ‘Unread’, and ‘Favorites’? Why not just
throw in ‘Messages From My Ex’ or ‘Spam I Should’ve Ignored’? Thankfully, the gods of
WhatsApp have dropped down from the heavens to allow us mere mortals to create custom
filters. Now we can sort our chats by ‘Neighbors’ (who probably want to borrow your lawnmower),
‘Work’ (because who doesn’t want to pretend to be busy?), or ‘Family’ (somebody check in on Grandma!).
It’s like creating your very own chat universe!

“With the Lists feature, you can now filter chats by custom categories of your choice,”
WhatsApp claims. Well, I must say this is music to my digital ears. It’s as if they’ve finally
understood that some of us just can’t handle the randomness of life — or our chats.

How to Create Your Own Lists

If you’re as excited as I am and want to get in on the action, here’s how you can create your own lists:

  • Make sure the WhatsApp application is running the latest version. (Don’t be that guy using
    version 12.0 from 1995.)
  • Open the WhatsApp application then pull down to display the filter tab. If you can’t
figure that out, I can’t help you!
  • Tap the plus ‘+’ icon to create a new list. (It’s the happy little icon that says,
    “Let’s get organized!”)
  • Enter the name of the list as desired, and add individual or group chats to join the list.
(Like sorting your sock drawer, but less annoying.)
  • Tap the ‘Create list’ button if you think it’s enough. (If you’re about to make a
list bigger than your New Year resolutions, step back!)

Once you’ve created your shimmering new list, you can even edit it! Change names,
add or delete chat members — it’s like being the God of your own little WhatsApp world.
Just remember, with great power comes great responsibility. Or at least a lot of
awkward conversations if you mistakenly delete Aunt Gladys from your family list!

In any case, it looks like WhatsApp won’t limit the number of Lists we can create,
which is an absolute relief. After all, who wouldn’t want to create a list for every
group they vaguely care about? If you’ve made a mountain of lists, just swipe right or left
to navigate through the chaos.

So, as WhatsApp rolls out this feature globally over the next few weeks, just know
that your digital life will soon be a lot tidier. No more scrolling through chats from
distant cousins who insist on sending you light-hearted memes about tax returns. Cheers
to that, right?
