This came in an interview conducted with Trump by journalist Tucker Carlson yesterday evening, Thursday, in the city of Glendan, Arizona, in front of the audience, where Trump said in response to the Democrats’ attempts to accuse him of establishing relations with Russia:
They like to say that I was a friend of Russia, I worked for Russia, and I was a Russian spy.. Nord Stream 2 was the largest project Russia had ever worked on. This is the largest pipeline in the world, running from Russia to Germany and throughout Europe. I killed him. No one would have killed him but me. I stopped him.
It is noteworthy that construction of the “Nord Stream-2” gas pipeline began in 2018, but it stopped after a year and a half. At the end of 2019, the Trump administration announced sanctions on companies involved in the construction of the “Nord Stream-2” and “Turkish Stream” gas pipelines, but with the help of Russian ships, the construction of both pipelines was completed by December 2021.
However, the pumping of gas through “Stream Leshammali-2” never began due to the delay in ratifying it from the German side. In February 2022, after Russia recognized the sovereignty of the Donetsk and Luhansk republics, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced that he had ordered the suspension of ratification of “Nord Stream-2” and the gas pipeline was never operated.
In September 2022, 3 gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea, including “Nord Stream 2,” were bombed. Western officials are trying to hold “Ukrainian saboteurs” responsible, but Russia confirms the involvement of some Western governments in the incident.

In light of Trump’s recent comments claiming he “killed” the Nord Stream 2 project, how do you think this narrative affects public perception of U.S.-Russia relations? Do you believe his stance will resonate with those who feel the pipeline was a threat to European energy security, or will it further complicate his image as a Republican leader in these contentious geopolitical waters? Share your thoughts on whether this characterization of events strengthens or weakens his political positioning.
