The government of Gustavo Petro will once again have the presence of Laura Sarabia, former director of the Department of Social Prosperity of Colombia, who will lead the Administrative Department of the Presidency of the Republic.
This is the third position that Laura Sarabia has held in the Petro administration, whom accompanied throughout his campaign until he became president of Colombia.
However, complaints of alleged abuse of power fall on her, which kept her away from her work with the president for a time.
The presidency of Colombia issued a statement in which detailed about his work in the Department of Social Prosperity: “Sarabia managed to focus the forces of the National Pact, which the National Government convened, on viable projects to overcome regional inequality and the historical debts that the country has with many vulnerable populations”.
Specifically, the House of Nariño recognized the work of Laura Sarabia in the Misión La Guajira project, “which is an ambitious public-private alliance to offer the real and lasting solutions that this department and its population require. “It was in charge of bringing together public and private forces in projects to care for regions and populations with which the country has the greatest debts.”.
Now, the official will be in charge of managing Petro’s agenda, as well as supervise and coordinate issues related to presidential security and protocol matters.

**Interview with Political Analyst, Dr. Mariana Rodríguez, on Laura Sarabia’s Return to the Petro Administration**
**Interviewer**: Thank you for joining us today, Dr. Rodríguez. The recent news about Laura Sarabia’s return to Gustavo Petro’s administration has stirred quite a bit of controversy. What can you tell us about the situation surrounding her departure and subsequent return?
**Dr. Rodríguez**: Thank you for having me. Laura Sarabia, who was previously a key advisor to President Petro, faced significant scrutiny after a scandal emerged regarding some of her actions while in office. She stepped down amidst allegations and the implications that she had given orders that led to controversial outcomes. Her recent statements to the Attorney General’s Office claiming that she never gave those orders seem to indicate she is trying to distance herself from the scandal.
**Interviewer**: What do you think motivated President Petro to reinstate Sarabia?
**Dr. Rodríguez**: It’s quite complex. On one hand, her experience and loyalty to Petro make her a valuable asset. On the other, this move may be seen as a way for Petro to consolidate his inner circle. However, it also risks further alienating constituents who were critical of her previous role in the administration and could interpret this as a lack of accountability.
**Interviewer**: There are many discussions about political accountability in Colombia. How do you think Sarabia’s comeback will impact public perception of Petro’s government?
**Dr. Rodríguez**: Public opinion will likely be polarized. Some supporters might view her return as a sign of stability and continuity of policies they agree with. Conversely, opposition groups and critics of the government may see this as a potential cover-up and a disregard for the ethical standards that many citizens expect from their leaders. This could lead to increased scrutiny of Petro’s administration and potentially fuel protests or demands for reforms.
**Interviewer**: Given the current political climate in Colombia, how critical do you think this moment is for Petro’s leadership and the future of his administration?
**Dr. Rodríguez**: This is indeed a pivotal moment. The handling of scandals and the subsequent decisions will have long-term implications for Petro’s credibility and effectiveness as a leader. If he successfully navigates this situation while maintaining public trust, it could strengthen his position. However, if he faces backlash, it may jeopardize not only his presidency but also the broader agenda of his administration.
**Interviewer**: Thank you, Dr. Rodríguez, for your insights into this developing story. It’s certainly a situation to watch closely as it unfolds.
**Dr. Rodríguez**: My pleasure. Thank you for having me.
