Deputy Head of the DKI Jakarta Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) Elvarinsa said that digitizing taxation is an important step in realizing Jakarta as a global city with a modern administrative system.
“With this innovation, we want to ensure that every Jakarta resident can get easier access to fulfill their tax obligations,” he said in his statement, Jakarta, Friday (1/11).
He said that his party had also carried out socialization activities entitled Launching the Basic Innovation for Imposing PBJT Online Taxes by Bapenda at the Golden Ballroom of The Sultan Hotel, Jakarta on Wednesday (30/10). This event was attended by various stakeholders, including representatives of government institutions and entrepreneurs as taxpayers of the Certain Goods and Services Tax (PBJT), who are the main users of this new digital-based tax system.
On that occasion, the Deputy Head of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Bapenda also officially launched the E-TRAPT system. In the first session, material was presented regarding the online tax innovation E-TRAPT, a platform that aims to collect transaction data from various sources so that the data consolidation process becomes faster, more precise and accurate.
E-TRAPT, which is in the form of a software agent, can be used as supporting data for payments made by PBJT Taxpayers, or Goods and Services Tax on Certain Consumption. With this system, it is hoped that the tax reporting process will become more structured and efficient.
In his presentation, Bapenda also explained the stages of implementing E-TRAPT. Among other things, the installation of the E-TRAPT device will be carried out directly by the Bapenda team for taxpayers who have gone online through BRI, DKI and BNI Banks.
The migration process to E-TRAPT will be carried out in stages. For old or new taxpayers who are not yet connected online, the installation of this device will be carried out by the Bapenda E-TRAPT team based on recommendations from UP3D and the Sub-Agency.
In the second session, Bapenda provided counseling regarding the basis for the imposition of Certain Goods and Services Tax (PBJT) which was adjusted to the latest provisions in Governor Regulation Number 35 of 2024 concerning Basic Provisions for the Imposition of PBJT aimed at providing taxpayers with an in-depth understanding of the new regulations which present a number of important update. This Gubernatorial Regulation is designed to increase transparency in the taxation process and make it easier for taxpayers to fulfill their obligations.
Apart from that, Bapenda also collaborated with the DKI Jakarta Tourism Department who were also present as resource persons. The Tourism Office is socializing “Tourism Business Standards in Accordance with Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Regulation Number 4 of 2021”, which is expected to help entrepreneurs understand the applicable standards and adjust their businesses according to existing regulations.
As a first step towards implementing this new innovation, Bapenda DKI Jakarta is committed to continuing to support taxpayers in understanding and optimally utilizing online tax services. It is hoped that this digital-based innovation will not only increase the efficiency of tax administration but also strengthen public awareness about the importance of regional taxes in Jakarta’s development.
DKI Jakarta Bapenda hopes that PBJT taxpayers can take advantage of the digital innovations introduced and understand more deeply the latest tax provisions. Through this inter-agency collaboration and outreach, Bapenda is optimistic that it can encourage a modern, transparent and accountable tax system, in line with the vision of making Jakarta a global city. **Interview with Elvarinsa, Deputy Head of the DKI Jakarta Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda)**
**Interviewer:** Thank you for joining us, Elvarinsa. Can you tell us about the recent digitalization efforts in the taxation system in Jakarta?
**Elvarinsa:** Thank you for having me. We are excited to announce that digitizing our taxation processes is a significant step towards making Jakarta a modern global city. Our recent launch of the E-TRAPT system aims to simplify tax compliance for residents and businesses alike.
**Interviewer:** What exactly is the E-TRAPT system, and how does it work?
**Elvarinsa:** E-TRAPT is a software agent that consolidates transaction data from various sources, providing a more efficient and accurate means of tax reporting. Taxpayers can use E-TRAPT as supporting data for their Certain Goods and Services Tax payments. It streamlines the entire process, making it more structured, so taxpayers can fulfill their obligations with ease.
**Interviewer:** That sounds promising! How will this system impact the way taxpayers interact with their tax obligations?
**Elvarinsa:** With E-TRAPT, we are ensuring that the tax reporting process is quicker and more precise. We will be working closely with taxpayers, particularly those connected online through various banks, to facilitate the installation of this system. Our goal is to provide everyone with easier access to fulfill their tax obligations.
**Interviewer:** What steps are being taken for the implementation of this new system?
**Elvarinsa:** The migration to E-TRAPT will be conducted in phases. For both new and existing taxpayers who are not yet online, our Bapenda team will be directly involved in the installation of the E-TRAPT device. This approach ensures a smooth transition and allows us to provide necessary guidance throughout the process.
**Interviewer:** Are there any outreach programs to educate taxpayers about these changes?
**Elvarinsa:** Absolutely! We held a significant socialization event recently, where we presented not only the E-TRAPT system but also provided detailed guidance on the Certain Goods and Services Tax regulations. Engaging with stakeholders, including government institutions and entrepreneurs, is crucial to ensure they understand and can take advantage of these innovations.
