Google, the world’s largest Internet search engine, has started testing artificial intelligence (AI) tools in limited countries including the United States.
But at the same time, during the trial, it was revealed that the AI tools were giving ridiculous and dangerous advice and answers to the users, which people seemed to be surprised by.
Google has started testing a search feature called AI Overview in the search engine, which will provide users with more information about all content.
Under the feature, where images, videos and news appear on the Google search engine bar, the AI option will appear first and clicking on it will bring up information about related content.
Not only this, but under the feature AI Overview will also provide a short summary of the topic searched on Google, similar to Wikipedia, along with authentic links to the content.
Similarly, Google started testing AI tools in Google Lens, but the said test is being conducted in a few other countries including the United States.
On the other hand, there have also been reports that during the testing of AI tools, ridiculous answers are being given by Google.
According to the American broadcaster CNBC, when asked, Google AI tells that former American President Barack Obama is actually a Muslim and he has been the only Muslim president of the United States.
Similarly, Google AI also suggests to people that to make a good pizza, they can use glue to stick all the ingredients on top of the pizza.
Similarly, the solution to depression is being told by Google to be suicide and at the same time advice is being given on which building people suffering from depression can jump from.
People are surprised by the weird and funny answers given by Google AI tools and at the same time Google is being criticized.

**Interview with Dr. Emily Larson, AI Ethics Expert**
**Editor:** Thank you for joining us today, Dr. Larson. Google has recently begun testing its new AI tools in countries like the United States. What are your initial thoughts on this development?
**Dr. Larson:** Thank you for having me! It’s an exciting yet concerning time. On one hand, integrating AI into search tools has the potential to revolutionize how we access information. On the other hand, the reported issues—where the AI is providing dangerous or nonsensical answers—raise significant ethical concerns and reflect the challenges that come with developing such technology.
**Editor:** Absolutely. Users reported receiving some surprising and even alarming advice from the AI. What do you think led to these problematic outputs?
**Dr. Larson:** AI systems learn from vast amounts of data, and sometimes this data can be flawed or biased. In the case of Google’s AI tools, it seems they may not be fully refined or their algorithms not rigorously tested against real-world scenarios. This can result in the AI misunderstanding context, leading to unsafe or misleading recommendations.
**Editor:** What should be done to address these issues before the AI tools are launched more broadly?
**Dr. Larson:** Rigorous testing is crucial. Developers need to evaluate these systems extensively, focusing not just on their ability to generate helpful responses, but also on their potential for harm. Collaboration with ethics experts, user feedback, and transparent reporting about the AI’s limitations could also help improve its reliability and safety.
**Editor:** And how should users themselves approach AI-generated information from tools like Google’s?
**Dr. Larson:** Users should remain critical of AI-generated content. It’s essential to cross-reference information from multiple credible sources. While AI can enhance search results, it’s vital for users to approach answers with a discerning mind, particularly when it comes to health, safety, or financial advice.
**Editor:** Great points, Dr. Larson. In your opinion, does this situation impact public trust in AI?
**Dr. Larson:** Yes, it certainly can. If users experience repeated instances of incorrect or dangerous advice, it may lead to skepticism not only of Google’s AI tools but of AI technologies as a whole. Developers and companies must prioritize transparency and public safety to foster trust.
**Editor:** Thank you, Dr. Larson, for sharing your insights on this developing story. We’ll be sure to keep our audience informed as the situation evolves.
**Dr. Larson:** Thank you for having me! It’s crucial to have these conversations as we progress into the AI era.
