Teams of agents from Airtel and its partner NETIS dedicated to the deployment of optical fiber were victims of a serious electrical accident which killed one agent and injured six others, according to a press release from Airtel Gabon.

« It is with deep emotion that Airtel Gabon and its partner NETIS announce a serious accident that occurred today on one of their optical fiber deployment sites. This tragic event cost the life of one of our employees and left six injured among the teams present on site. », We can read in the Airtel press release.

The serious accident occurred at PK 12 on the outskirts of the Gabonese capital. The team reportedly received an electric shock from a medium voltage pylon.

The injured were quickly taken to hospital for appropriate treatment. A thorough investigation was immediately opened to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.

« Airtel Gabon and NETIS are fully collaborating with the competent authorities and are committed to shedding light on the causes of this tragedy. A complete audit of safety procedures has already been initiated on all of our sites. », Specifies the press release.

« We will take any additional measures that may prove necessary to strengthen the protection of our teams. », concluded the company.
