CHAIRMAN of Commission One of the discussions was the desire to increase the ministry’s budget to more than IDR 20 trillion

The original plan, he said, was for Natalius Pigai to be invited to attend a work meeting this Monday, but there was a change in schedule. The main agenda is introducing the ministry to partner commissions and discussing future work plans.

“Wednesday was afternoon if I’m not mistaken,” Willy was quoted as saying Between, Monday (28/10).

Apart from that, according to him, the working meeting with the commission partners was held to carry out legislative duties. He said that Commission XIII of the DPR RI would discuss the draft law which would become a priority national legislation program (Prolegnas).

Regarding the large budget request, Willy believes that human rights cover a wide range of issues. However, he admitted that he would study the budget request because President Prabowo Subianto had warned about budget allocation priorities.

“Nutritious eating is also a human right, education is 20 percent also a human right, health is also a human right, human rights are fundamental rights, only now there is a separate ministry,” he said.

Previously, Minister of Human Rights Natalius Pigai believed that there would be an additional budget for the ministry he leads in the context of developing human rights in Indonesia, physically and non-physically.

The former Komnas HAM Commissioner wants the budget for his ministry to be more than IDR 20 trillion. According to Pigai, human rights development includes many physical and non-physical things, such as making regulations, protecting citizens and fulfilling people’s rights, which cannot be done with a small budget.

“If the country has the capacity, it wants above Rp. 20 trillion. And Pigai can build it, don’t think of me lightly. I am a field worker in human rights. I can do it if the country has a budget,” said Natalius after a welcoming event at the Office of the Directorate General of Human Rights, Jakarta. , Monday (21/10). (Ant/P-5)
