The NBA announced its new global campaign The Heist II, which is available across all NBA social platforms and digital accounts.
Quoted from the official statement from NBA Indonesia, Wednesday (30/10), this film was made to celebrate the Emirates NBA Cup 2024, which will start with group matches on November 13.
This double match will be broadcast on TNT, opening with the New York Knicks who will visit the Philadelphia 76ers at 06.30 WIB, followed by the Golden State Warriors who will host the Dallas Mavericks at 09.00 WIB.
Set in Las Vegas, The Heist II presents a continuation of last season’s campaign. The film begins with NBA Cup Champion Los Angeles Lakers Anthony Davis, guarding his team’s NBA Cup trophy.
While celebrating last season’s win, Davis ordered champagne to his penthouse suite, unaware that five other NBA stars, Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Oklahoma City Thunder), Tyrese Haliburton (Indiana Pacers), Jrue Holiday (Boston Celtics), and Jamal Murray (Denver Nuggets), plan to steal the trophy right from before his eyes.
Emmy Award-winning actor Michael Imperioli also returns as the mastermind of the operation, this time alongside actress Rosario Dawson.
Even though the players try to secretly steal the trophy with a variety of tactics, from clever passes, disguises, to stunning theatrics, Dawson and Imperioli remain one step ahead of the NBA stars.
They traverse the Bellagio Fountains, pass through lasered rooms, climb buildings, and creep through elevator shafts. In a series of brave actions, they managed to capture the trophy, forcing the players to compete again to win it.
“Continuing the spirit of last year’s successful campaign, The Heist II returns with an exciting and entertaining story about the pursuit of a new championship for NBA players and fans,” said NBA Chief Marketing Officer, Tammy Henault.
“We hope this iconic theatrical heist storyline will appeal to a wider and increasingly discerning audience
that the Emirates NBA Cup offers a new level of excitement at the start of the season,” he added.
Additional broadcasts will begin leading up to the Knockout Rounds, Semifinals and Finals featuring Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame member Grant Hill alongside Imperioli and Dawson to discuss the final battle for the NBA Cup.
