Pakistan‘s test cricketer could not be re-selected in the national team despite continuous scores in domestic cricket and after his performance was continuously ignored, now Fawad Alam says that maybe he is a victim of personal dislike.
Fawad Alam, who scored a century in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy match between Sindh and Northern in Karachi, once again spoke about his non-selection in the press conference at the end of the match and hinted that the selection is being done on the basis of personal likes and dislikes.
Fawad said that it seems like there is like and dislike and it looks like that, there is no need to say anything more. Fawad Alam, who scored 11830 runs at an average of 56 in 162 first-class matches, said that he is also looking for an answer to the question why he is not being selected in the team and what is lacking in him?
According to Fawad, every year after two years a new justification is presented and they start working on it. Fawad Alam scored 2 centuries and a half-century in 9 innings in the recent season, taking his tally to 32 in his first-class career.
The 34-year-old batsman said that when a player is dropped from the team, he tries to make a comeback by performing in domestic cricket and that is what he is trying to do. According to Fawad, the player who performs should be given a chance to step up.
Fawad said that favoritism is everywhere, even in homes and it has become a part of life now. He further said that sometimes it becomes difficult to fight continuously but then there is a strong desire to do better because this is his job and how will he support his family if he quits cricket. He said that he still hopes that one day he will get the chance.

**Interview with Fawad Alam: A Test Cricketer’s Journey of Resilience**
**Interviewer:** Welcome, Fawad. Thank you for joining us today. You’ve been performing consistently in domestic cricket, yet it seems you’ve faced challenges in being selected for the national team. How do you feel about your current situation?
**Fawad Alam:** Thank you for having me. It’s certainly been a frustrating journey. I’ve tried to give my best in domestic matches, scoring runs and contributing to my teams. Despite that, it feels like my performances are overlooked. I can’t help but wonder if personal biases are affecting my selection.
**Interviewer:** That’s quite a strong statement. Can you elaborate on what you mean by “personal dislike”?
**Fawad Alam:** Of course. In any competitive sports environment, especially in a country like Pakistan where emotions run high, decisions sometimes go beyond just performance. I’ve seen players with less consistent records being selected over me, which raises questions about the criteria used for selection. It does make me wonder if personal opinions about me influence those decisions.
**Interviewer:** It’s understandable to feel that way. What do you think needs to change in the selection process to ensure that performances are the primary factor?
**Fawad Alam:** I believe there should be more transparency in the selection criteria. The focus should solely be on merit — runs scored, consistency, and contributions to the game. Having clear parameters can help reduce any ambiguity and ensure that players are picked based on their abilities, not personal likes or dislikes.
**Interviewer:** With all the challenges you’ve faced, what keeps you motivated to continue playing and striving for selection?
**Fawad Alam:** My love for cricket is what drives me. Each time I step on the field, I give it my all, not just for myself but for the fans who support me and believe in my talent. I remain hopeful that talent will eventually be recognized, and I can don the national jersey again.
**Interviewer:** That’s inspiring to hear. Lastly, what message do you have for young cricketers facing similar challenges in their careers?
**Fawad Alam:** I want them to stay true to themselves and their passion for the game. There will be hurdles, but perseverance is key. Keep working hard, believe in your abilities, and don’t let setbacks define your journey. If you stay committed, opportunities will come.
**Interviewer:** Thank you, Fawad. We hope to see you back on the international stage soon!
**Fawad Alam:** Thank you! I appreciate your support.
