**Interview with Aristides Stathopoulos, President of the Carnival Academy of Patras**
**Interviewer:** Thank you for joining us, Aristides! Can you tell us a bit more about the upcoming workshop and its significance for the young participants?
**Aristides Stathopoulos:** Absolutely! This workshop is the first of its kind organized outdoors, and it’s dedicated to the children of Patras as we prepare for the Carnival season. We aim to engage them creatively and teach them about the rich tradition of carnival art, which is crucial for passing these customs onto the next generation.
**Interviewer:** It sounds like a wonderful initiative! What can the children expect to learn during the workshop?
**Aristides Stathopoulos:** The children will learn the entire process of creating carnival elements—from shaping a simple piece of styrofoam to bringing it to life with vibrant colors. This hands-on experience will be guided by skilled artists from our Academy, ensuring that they gain both practical skills and an appreciation for the artistic side of carnival preparation.
**Interviewer:** You mentioned that this idea stemmed from last year’s event in Georgiou Square. How did the children’s response influence your decision to host this workshop?
**Aristides Stathopoulos:** The enthusiasm from the children last year was incredible! They were thrilled to participate in creating a large carnival bastaka, and we realized that there was a real desire for more interactive experiences. This year, we’ve decided to create a focused workshop that allows them to explore and understand the art behind the Carnival more deeply.
**Interviewer:** That sounds like it will be an enriching experience for the kids! How do you feel about the move to Trion Navarchon for this year’s workshop?
**Aristides Stathopoulos:** Moving to Trion Navarchon is exciting! It’s a lively pedestrian area with plenty of foot traffic, and we believe it will foster a more vibrant atmosphere for creativity. We expect that the event will not only attract participants from local schools but also engage passersby and the broader community.
**Interviewer:** It’s great to see such community engagement! As the carnival season approaches, what message do you hope to convey through this workshop?
**Aristides Stathopoulos:** Our main message is to celebrate the spirit of creativity and tradition. By involving the children in this workshop, we hope to instill a sense of pride in their cultural heritage and encourage them to express themselves artistically. Carnival is not just an event; it’s a joyous celebration of our community and its traditions.
**Interviewer:** Thank you, Aristides! We look forward to seeing the creativity of the children shine through in this workshop.
**Aristides Stathopoulos:** Thank you for having me! We’re excited for November 2nd and hope to see many little friends of Patras there!
