CARLOS Alcaraz started his performance at the Paris Masters by taking revenge by beating Nicolas Jarry 7-5, 6-1.
The second seed from Spain, who lost to his opponent from Chile in the Buenos Aires semifinals last February, showed off his class when returning the ball by converting 80% (4/5) of break points.
“I thought I played very good tennis (in the first set), but in the end it was complicated,” said Alcaraz, who improved his win-loss record in ATP Masters 1000 events this season to 16-4, quoted from ATP, Wednesday (30/ 10).

“I was very happy to get through the opening set, it was very important for me to go into the second set with more confidence. I (needed) time to get used to the speed of the court.”
“It’s been two years since I won the match at Paris-Bercy, so every time I continue to progress is a reward for me,” continued
the Spaniard.
As he continues his bid to win five or more ATP Tour titles for a third consecutive season, Alcaraz will face either host Ugo Humbert or qualifier Marcos Giron for a place in the quarter-finals.

Alcaraz wasted no time in taking the lead, racking up five points in a row to break Jarry’s serve in the second game.
The 21-year-old tennis player was hampered when serving to end the set at 5-4, but managed to recover to close the opening set.
Jarry applied pressure on his returns throughout the second set, where he had four break chances, according to ATP statistics.
However, Alcaraz showed resilience to stand firm and cruise to victory over the course of an hour, 30 minutes, improving to 3-1 in their head to head. (Ant/Z-1)

**Interview with Tennis Analyst, Maria Gonzalez, on Carlos Alcaraz’s Performance at the Paris Masters**
**Editor:** Thank you for joining us today, Maria. Let’s talk about Carlos Alcaraz’s impressive win over Nicolas Jarry in the first round of the Paris Masters. What stood out to you in his performance?
**Maria Gonzalez:** Thank you for having me! What really stood out was Alcaraz’s ability to dominate the match despite the earlier loss to Jarry in Buenos Aires. He played with confidence and aggression, especially in converting 80% of his break points, which is a remarkable statistic.
**Editor:** Yes, that 80% conversion rate is quite impressive. How do you think that reflects on his overall strategy in the match?
**Maria Gonzalez:** It clearly shows that he came into the match with a solid game plan and executed it well. He was aggressive on return, making it difficult for Jarry to find his rhythm. Alcaraz’s focus on capitalizing on break point opportunities allowed him to maintain control and ultimately secure the win.
**Editor:** It’s interesting to see how players can bounce back after a loss to the same opponent. What does this victory mean for Alcaraz moving forward in the tournament?
**Maria Gonzalez:** This win is essential for his momentum. Not only did he avenge his previous defeat, but he also demonstrated his high-level form, which is crucial as he progresses through the tournament. Given his ranking as the second seed, he will be expected to perform well as he continues on this path.
**Editor:** In your opinion, what are Alcaraz’s chances of going deep in the tournament?
**Maria Gonzalez:** If he maintains this level of play, I believe he has a strong chance of advancing to the later rounds. His combination of powerful groundstrokes, strategic serving, and mental fortitude makes him a formidable opponent for anyone. It will be exciting to see how he adapts to different styles of play as the competition gets tougher.
