Like an air of triumphant return to Gabon for Brice Laccruche Alihanga –

The recent photo posted by Brice Laccruche Alihanga, the former all-powerful Chief of Staff of Ali Bongo Ondimba (August 2017-October 2019) on his social networks, a photo announcing his return to Gabon which has gone viral on the web, brings capital of sympathy from Internet users, seeing through these different positive reactions a sort of sympathetic triumphant return to his country.

Suffering from colon cancer contracted in the central prison of Libreville where he stayed for 05 for alleged acts of embezzlement of public funds, extortion, financial embezzlement and others, he was evacuated to France on June 15 by a medical plane to receive appropriate care. Left in critical condition, his return home was uncertain.

Following this evacuation, his lawyer, Me Charles Henri Gey, had indicated that his evacuation had been decided by the highest authorities because of the deterioration of his state of health.

« It was the Head of State Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguéma who chartered the plane to spare the former collaborator of his predecessor Ali Bongo from certain death he confirmed.

Since his visibly refreshed return three days ago, the former president and founder of the Association of Young Emerging Volunteers (AJEV) seems to once again arouse sympathy towards him.

For one of his relatives, “it is a new Brice Laccruche Alihanga who knew how to ask forgiveness for his errors and who, thanks to his conversion to Christ, forgave his tormentors. This is certainly why the Gabonese people once again show him so much sympathy. His humility and gratitude speak for him».

As a man on the ground, Brice Laccruche Aliahanga could play a leading role during this campaign for “yes” to the constitutional referendum which will be held on November 16, 2024.

**Interview with Political Analyst⁣ Dr. Marianne Lemoine on Brice Laccruche Alihanga’s Return to Gabon**

**Editor:** Today, we have Dr. Marianne Lemoine, a political analyst specializing in Gabonese politics, to ⁤discuss the ‌recent developments surrounding Brice Laccruche Alihanga. ‌Thank you for joining us, Dr. Lemoine.

**Dr. Lemoine:** Thank you for having me.

**Editor:** Let’s dive right in. Brice ‍Laccruche Alihanga ⁣recently posted a photo on Facebook announcing his return to Gabon after a health scare. What does this signify for‍ him‌ politically and personally?

**Dr. Lemoine:** His return is symbolically ‍powerful, especially since it’s framed as a triumphant comeback. Given his previous role⁤ as Chief ⁤of Staff to President⁢ Ali Bongo Ondimba, many see this‌ as a kind of redemption arc. ⁢Personally, his recovery⁢ from colon cancer adds‍ a layer of resilience to the ‌narrative, and it has sparked sympathy among the public.

**Editor:** There has been a noticeable positive reaction from internet users. What do you ‌think drives this ‍public sentiment?

**Dr. Lemoine:** A combination of ⁤factors. Over the⁣ last few years, Gabon ⁢has seen significant political and social turmoil. Many Gabonese people are eager for a narrative of overcoming adversity. Laccruche’s story resonates with this. Additionally, there’s a curiosity around his next political moves. People are inclined to root for⁣ a figure who has navigated such challenges, even if he has faced ‌serious allegations in the past.

**Editor:** Speaking of those ‍allegations, Laccruche ‌faced⁢ serious charges while imprisoned. How might these past legal⁤ troubles affect his public support now?

**Dr. Lemoine:** That’s a complex issue. While his health battle invokes empathy, the allegations of embezzlement and corruption⁤ still cast a shadow. Some may view his return as an opportunity for accountability, while others might see it as a sign of impunity⁣ among the⁢ elite. It will be interesting to see how he navigates⁢ these memories and whether he can redefine his public persona.

**Editor:** What‌ do you ⁢expect⁤ to happen politically with his comeback?

**Dr. Lemoine:** It will depend largely‌ on his strategy going forward. If he ⁣can position himself as a reformer who has learned from his past, he might regain influence. However, if his return doesn’t translate into concrete political initiatives or if he fails ‍to address his past, public opinion could shift quickly. His next steps will be crucial.

**Editor:** Thank you, Dr. Lemoine, for ⁤your insights on Brice Laccruche Alihanga’s return to Gabon. It certainly adds ⁢an interesting chapter to Gabonese politics.
