Apple Unveils Powerful 2024 MacBook Pro with M4 Chips and Advanced AI Features

Apple Unveils Powerful 2024 MacBook Pro with M4 Chips and Advanced AI Features

“MacBook Pro is an incredibly powerful tool that millions of people use to do the best work of their lives. And starting today, it’s even better,” said John Ternus, Apple’s senior vice president of hardware development, during Wednesday’s premiere.

The latest MacBook Pro is available in two different sizes, with a 14-inch and a 16-inch Liquid Retina XDR display. You would look for changes in the design in vain even if you had a magnifying glass in your hand. The appearance of both laptops remained practically the same as their predecessors.

The biggest improvement is the integration of the new M4 series chips, which we have already presented in a separate article on Novinky. Let us at least quickly remind you that the M4 is the basis of the offer, the M4 Pro is intended for more demanding users, and the best of the offer is the M4 Max, which is currently the most powerful processor from Apple.

Ready for the AI era

However, you can choose all three mentioned chips in the configurator only in the case of a MacBook Pro with a 14-inch display. The larger 16-inch model is only offered with the more powerful M4 Pro and M4 Max processors, the basic M4 chip is missing from the bigger brother.

Thanks to the new chips, MacBook Pros can handle Apple’s new artificial intelligence (AI) system smoothly.

“The new MacBook Pro with powerful chips of the M4 family and rich professional equipment including Thunderbolt 5, an advanced 12MPx Center Stage camera, a completely new optional display glass with nanotexture and Apple Intelligence maintains its position as by far the best professional laptop in the world,” Ternus boasted at the presentation of a new professional laptop with a bitten apple logo.

As can be seen from his statement, one of the other attractions is the Center Stage camera with a resolution of 12 MPx, which boasts the function View on the table. The camera can thus automatically take up the desktop during video calls, which is useful when you want to show something to your colleagues.

The mentioned nanotexture on the display is optional, and of course for an additional fee – specifically, people will pay an extra 4050 CZK for a layer that limits glare and reflections in bright spaces.

The price of the 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M4 chip starts at CZK 49,990. Potential buyers will pay at least CZK 74,990 for a 16-inch MacBook Pro, which is, however, equipped with a more powerful M4 Pro chip. This is the price of the basic configuration. All models are sold in space black and silver.

Pre-orders for both new MacBook Pros started already on Wednesday after the premiere, but the official sale is not scheduled until Friday, November 8.

Two more computers

As part of ‘announcement week’, Apple is unveiling something new every day this week. On Monday, for example, the all-in-one iMac lineup was premiered. Prices start at CZK 39,990 for the basic configuration with 16GB of operating memory and a 256GB SSD drive.

On Tuesday, we saw the next generation of the compact Mac mini computer, which compared to the previous generation offers noticeably smaller dimensions and lower weight. Mac mini will be offered in various configurations, the basic one starts at CZK 17,490. For that price, people get an M4 chip, 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

It is worth emphasizing that all new machines are ready to run Apple Intelligence.

Pre-orders for all the revealed new products from Apple are already in full swing. Official sales will begin on Friday, November 8, as mentioned above.

What will Apple’s AI offer?

Apple presented its own artificial intelligence called Apple Intelligence at the end of June in Cupertino, USA, which it integrates into its entire ecosystem. That is, not only for iPhone smartphones, but also for iPad computer tablets and Mac computers.

Apple Intelligence will understand both text and images on these devices. It can recognize, for example, your child in a picture to speed up the search for specific people.

Using AI, it will also be possible to edit photos, for example to automatically remove unwanted objects in the background.

Images will also be automatically generated based on text input. So if you want to create a picture of a blooming garden, all you have to do is write it, after which the system from the American technology giant will create a realistic picture – exactly as specified.

The novelty should also be able to help users with writing text. This applies not only to e-mails, but also to any documents. From a few notes, you will be able to let the AI formulate a text especially for your boss or colleague, but also a love letter for your lover.

Apple Intelligence on iPhone

At the same time, the artificial intelligence system will learn from the user. For example, on an iPhone, it will be able to recognize which notifications are important to you – and then give them a higher priority.

The knowledge of the user’s preferences will be used by the AI, for example, to recommend the most suitable restaurant for him to visit.

In addition, the American technology giant decided to establish cooperation with the company OpenAI, which is closely connected with the American Microsoft. Owners of Apple devices will thus be able to enjoy the latest chatbot ChatGPT 4o for free, which will be integrated directly into individual functions of the operating system.

However, Apple emphasized at the press conference that the security of user data is the highest priority for the company. Most often, users will be able to use Apple Intelligence, which will be integrated directly into the phone, tablet or computer.

Only when a more robust AI system is needed does ChatGPT come into play. At the same time, users will be able to choose in their device settings whether OpenAI is allowed to work with their data – for example, search history – or not.

Apple’s AI will be available on a wide range of devices.

Apple’s AI is out. But the Europeans are out of luck

AI

Well, well, well, if it isn’t the shiny new MacBook Pro making its entrance! You know, if the latest model were any more powerful, it would probably come with its own cape. John Ternus, Apple’s senior vice president of hardware development, described it as a tool for people to do “the best work of their lives.” I don’t know about you, but I struggle to get out of bed before noon. But let’s dive into the juicy bits!

First off, we’ve got two sizes: 14-inch and 16-inch. And if you were hoping for a groundbreaking design, don’t bother; a detective with a magnifying glass wouldn’t spot any difference from the previous models. It’s like Apple knew we were waiting for something flashy, and instead, they decided to give us a…hmmm…how shall I say this? A very consistent aesthetic. It’s the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” approach, which, incidentally, is also how I approach my hair styling.

Now, onto the chips! The MacBook Pro is rocking the new M4 series chips, which—hold onto your hats—include the M4 Max. Just when you thought Apple couldn’t take it up another notch, they roll out chips that sound like they belong in a superhero movie. “M4 Max to the rescue!” I can almost hear the theme music now! But there’s a little twist—as with everything in life, it seems, the larger 16-inch model only gets the M4 Pro or M4 Max. So it’s basically saying, “You want the basic model? Sorry, you’re in the wrong size, pal!”

And don’t even get me started on the new AI capabilities. Apple’s all in on AI—there’s a shiny new system for that, which will help you do your work while you’re busy staring blankly into space. This includes a lovely 12 MP Center Stage camera, which sounds great until you realize that it might just be smarter than half of your colleagues. It automatically frames you during calls. I mean, can it make me look less tired too? This is the real question.

Then we have the optional nanotexture display. They say good things come at a price, and in this case, “good things” mean an extra 4050 CZK just to limit glare. You’d think it would come mandatory, considering we all remember that one time when the sun and a laptop screen had their own romantic moment!

Now, let’s address the elephant in the room: the prices. They’ll start at CZK 49,990 for the 14-inch MacBook with the M4 chip. If you want the 16-inch model, get ready to fork out CZK 74,990, which is surprising because you’d think they were selling you a small island, not just a laptop. And we all know how those price tags make us feel—like we need to give up avocado toast entirely!

And speaking of Apple, while they’re unveiling their fancy new devices, they’re busy making everyone else feel just a little bit left out. The Europeans, for instance, are stuck watching from the sidelines with their noses pressed against the glass. In a world where everyone loves AI, you’ve got to feel a bit bad for anyone outside the Apple bubble, right? Maybe they’ll get their turn… in 2040.

So, in conclusion: if you’re looking for a laptop that’s incredibly powerful and makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside while you procrastinate, the new MacBook Pro might be just for you! But just remember—try not to cry too hard when you hand over your hard-earned cash. Because while the MacBook Pro might be the best professional laptop in the world, it won’t pay your bills… yet!

“The MacBook Pro is an exceptional powerhouse that countless users rely on to unleash their full creative potential and accomplish groundbreaking work. Starting today, we’re elevating that experience even further,” proclaimed John Ternus, Apple’s senior vice president of hardware development, during a highly anticipated event on Wednesday.

The newest iteration of the MacBook Pro offers consumers a choice of two distinct sizes, featuring a stunning 14-inch and 16-inch Liquid Retina XDR display that makes images come to life. If you were to scrutinize the devices closely, you would find no significant design alterations; the overall aesthetics of both models remain remarkably similar to their predecessors.

A key highlight of this release is the introduction of the M4 series chips, a technological advancement we previously detailed in a dedicated article on Novinky. To recap swiftly, the lineup begins with the foundational M4 chip, progresses to the M4 Pro tailored for more discerning users, and culminates in the M4 Max, which currently stands as Apple’s most powerful processor to date.

Ready for the AI era

The new models allow you to select all three chip options in the configurator, but this flexibility is limited to the 14-inch MacBook Pro. The larger 16-inch variant is exclusively available with the more powerful M4 Pro and M4 Max processors, as the base M4 option is notably absent from this model.

Thanks to these advanced chips, the MacBook Pros boast exceptional capabilities to handle Apple’s latest artificial intelligence (AI) systems with ease.

“This new MacBook Pro, equipped with the formidable M4 family of chips and robust professional features such as Thunderbolt 5 connectivity, an innovative 12MP Center Stage camera, and an optionally available nanotexture display glass, solidifies its status as the unparalleled best professional laptop in the world,” Ternus confidently asserted during the launch of this new flagship device adorned with the iconic apple logo.

The standout feature of the new MacBook Pro is undeniably the 12MP Center Stage camera, which includes an impressive function called View on the table. This cutting-edge camera can automatically frame the desktop during video calls, making it easier for users to present materials to colleagues in real-time.

The optional nanotexture coating on the display significantly reduces glare and reflections in well-lit environments, available for an extra fee of 4,050 CZK.

The entry price for the 14-inch MacBook Pro featuring the M4 chip begins at 49,990 CZK. Meanwhile, the starting price for the larger 16-inch MacBook Pro with the performance-enhancing M4 Pro chip is set at a minimum of 74,990 CZK. This pricing reflects the basic configuration options for both models, which are available in sleek space black and silver finishes.

Pre-orders for both new MacBook Pro models began immediately following their presentation, with the official sales launch scheduled for Friday, November 8.

Two more computers

In a week filled with announcements, Apple is rolling out new products daily. For instance, an updated all-in-one iMac lineup was introduced on Monday, with prices starting at 39,990 CZK for the basic model featuring 16GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD.

On Tuesday, Apple unveiled the next-generation Mac mini computer, which boasts significantly reduced dimensions and weight compared to its predecessor. The Mac mini will be offered in multiple configurations, with the base model starting at 17,490 CZK, including an M4 chip, 16GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage.

It’s important to note that all newly announced devices are engineered to fully support Apple Intelligence.

Pre-orders are already active for all the newly launched Apple products, with official sales commencing on Friday, November 8.

What will Apple’s AI offer?

Earlier this year, Apple showcased its proprietary artificial intelligence, known as Apple Intelligence, during an event in Cupertino, California, designed to be integrated seamlessly across its ecosystem, spanning iPhones, iPads, and Mac computers.

This cutting-edge AI will have the capability to comprehend both text and images, streamlining processes such as locating specific individuals in photos to enhance search efficiency.

With the power of AI, users will also experience transformations in photo editing, enabling functions like the automatic removal of unwanted elements from backgrounds.

Moreover, Apple Intelligence is poised to generate images based on textual descriptions. Users can simply type phrases like “a blooming garden,” and the AI will create a lifelike rendition of the scene, making visual creativity accessible to all.

In addition to these capabilities, the AI aims to assist users in crafting written content, ranging from emails to formal documents. With a few notes, users can permit AI to generate perfectly articulated texts, whether it’s for professional correspondence or personal messages.

The system is designed to learn from user interactions; for example, on an iPhone, it can identify which notifications hold significance for the user and prioritize them accordingly.

The AI’s understanding of individual preferences will extend to practical tasks like recommending the perfect restaurant suitable for a user’s taste.

Additionally, Apple has announced a strategic partnership with OpenAI, the company behind Microsoft’s ChatGPT, allowing users of Apple devices to enjoy the latest version of ChatGPT integrated directly into the operating system.

However, Apple maintained a strong emphasis on user data security during the press conference, assuring that Apple Intelligence will operate primarily within the device itself. Only when a more advanced AI system is deemed necessary will ChatGPT be accessed. Users will retain control within device settings over what data, such as search history, they permit OpenAI to utilize.

Apple’s application of artificial intelligence will extend across a wide range of its devices, demonstrating the company’s commitment to integrating cutting-edge technology while prioritizing user privacy.
