On the occasion of International Giant Panda Day on October 27, Dujiangyan City in Sichuan Province announced its participation in the “Panda Homeland Culture” creativity competition. Hosted by the Chengdu government, it aims to help make Chengdu a world-leading center for cultural and creative initiatives on the theme of panda.

As an important part of the Dujiangyan Panda Creative Project, Dujiangyan will select a giant panda as its ambassador with the help of the National Giant Panda Conservation and Research Center. This panda will form the starting point of a unique intellectual property system that combines Dujiangyan’s history, culture and environment to promote the city’s branding.

The city will engage participants in various categories such as sculpture, painting, video and design to showcase the diverse cultural value of intellectual property surrounding the giant panda and promote its use in public spaces, tourism and digital applications.

A local culture and tourism group will lead a cultural innovation platform for giant pandas, promoting collaboration and mutual benefit among participants. Which panda will represent the city of Dujiangyan will be announced soon.

Li Yue, director of Dujiangyan’s publicity department, said Dujiangyan will promote giant panda intellectual property culture, strengthen the panda culture industry, and help Chengdu become a global center of giant panda culture and showcase the city as a key player.

During the subsequent salon on the creation of cultural and creative intellectual property rights for giant pandas, leading representatives of the domestic cultural and creative industry and artists discussed the creation and implementation of cultural and creative intellectual property rights for giant pandas.

Zhou Xiaodong, general manager of Chengdu Dujiangyan Investment Development Group, cited cooperation opportunities for the Dujiangyan giant panda project. The group plans to create giant panda-themed facilities in the city, including restaurants, hotels and cultural venues.

In recent years, Dujiangyan has expanded giant panda-related tourism, organized various events and created related brands. It was named the best location for the Panda National Park pilot project and selected as a model city for promoting panda-friendly products.

Fu Yuxiang, a renowned international sculptor and co-chair of the Panda Homeland Culture creativity competition, invited creatives from around the world to present pioneering, innovative works that bring the giant panda to the world stage.

To date, more than 100 artists, creatives and companies from countries and regions such as Japan, the United States, Uruguay and Norway have taken part in the competition.
