The Pablo Tobón Uribe Hospital confirmed that the Antioquia coach Pedro Sarmiento, whom the media, the Colombian Football Federation, the Dimayor and the National and Medellín teams, presumed dead and sent messages of condolences, is not dead, but in critical condition.

At 12:30 pm Pablo Tobón Uribe reported to TANews that “he is currently in our care, he is in a critical state of health. For the moment, the family is living in privacy (…) and as a Hospital we respect their decision. The Hospital will make the official announcement regarding any development related to the patient and their state of health; if the family authorizes it.”

For his part, in an interview with the newspaper The ColombianJuan Carlos Sarmiento, brother of the coach, assured this medium that he was accompanying his brother in the room.

“(…) He is not conscious, but he is breathing and his heart is beating. At this moment it is in a state of life and there is no consciousness. “It is something similar to a coma,” Juan Carlos told the Antioquia newspaper.

The rumor of the coach’s death spread through a message of condolences written by his daughter, Pamela Sarmiento, on her social networks. As well as publications from soccer authorities such as Dimayor and the Colombian Soccer Federation.
