Asunción, IP Agency.- Itaipu Binacional will implement the Academic Research Repository, through a digital platform that will bring together the scientific works of its employees on the right bank. This initiative will allow the centralization and preservation of scientific research generated by professionals who have worked and work at the institution.
The executive coordinator of the Itaipu Corporate University (UCI), José Chamorro, highlighted that the RIA-IB will host scientific research, technical reports and bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral theses. “Currently, many investigations are dispersed and this system will facilitate their cataloging and access,” he said.
During the month of November of this year, as the first phase of the project, a mapping of technical-scientific production will be carried out. At the same time, through the UCI, Itaipu is developing the technical aspects necessary for the launch of the Itaipu Scientific Research Magazine (RICI).
Within the framework of this process, work is being done to define the guidelines for the lines of research, the structuring of research groups and the formation of an editorial committee that ensures the rigor and scientific quality of the publications, reported the Binacional.
“The RICI will reflect the scientific contribution of Itaipu employees beyond energy generation,” said Chamorro.
Innovative milestone
This initiative, framed in the management vision of the Entity’s Paraguayan general director, Justo Zacarías Irún, establishes a historical and strategic precedent for Itaipu by promoting the preservation of its technical-scientific heritage for the benefit of Paraguay and Brazil.
Through an innovative and committed approach, the general director promotes this project to consolidate the conservation and transfer of knowledge; establishing these pillars as fundamental to strengthen sustainable development and ensure the continuity of strategic projects of the Binational.
The project represents a milestone in knowledge management within the UCI, which marks a transcendental advance in the fulfillment of its institutional responsibilities.
Likewise, it constitutes a historic event in the development of Itaipu since the beginning of its operations as a hydroelectric plant and reaffirms its commitment to the creation, preservation and transfer of strategic knowledge that contributes to its sustainability and leadership in the regional energy sector.

**Interview with José Chamorro, Executive Coordinator of Itaipu Corporate University**
**Interviewer:** Thank you for joining us today, José. Itaipu Binational has recently announced the implementation of the Academic Research Repository. Can you explain what this initiative entails and its significance for the institution?
**José Chamorro:** Thank you for having me. The Academic Research Repository, or RIA-IB, is a digital platform designed to centralize and preserve the scientific works produced by our employees. With this initiative, we aim to bring together various forms of research, including technical reports and academic theses from bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs. The significance lies in the fact that much of this research has previously been scattered across different locations, making it difficult to access. Now, we can streamline cataloging and provide easier access for everyone.
**Interviewer:** That sounds like a great step forward for organizational knowledge. What are the next steps after launching the platform?
**José Chamorro:** In November, we’ll kick off the first phase by conducting a mapping of the technical-scientific production within Itaipu. Simultaneously, we are working on the technical details necessary for launching the Itaipu Scientific Research Magazine, which will further promote and disseminate research findings.
**Interviewer:** It seems like a comprehensive approach to enhance research visibility. How do you anticipate this repository will impact employees’ engagement with scientific research?
**José Chamorro:** We believe that having a centralized repository will encourage more employees to engage in research activities since their work will be more visible and accessible. This initiative not only preserves knowledge but also fosters a culture of collaboration and innovation among our professionals.
**Interviewer:** In light of the current challenges in scientific research, what message do you have for the scientific community regarding this initiative?
**José Chamorro:** This initiative is an invitation to the scientific community to collaborate and share knowledge. We hope that by creating this repository, we can bridge gaps and hopefully inspire more research initiatives that can impact both Itaipu and the broader scientific landscape.
**Interviewer:** Thank you, José, for sharing these insights. It will be exciting to see how the RIA-IB and the forthcoming magazine develop over time.
**José Chamorro:** Thank you for having me!
