Bankruptcy in the Linz gastronomy scene

AKV and KSV1870 announced on Wednesday that restructuring proceedings without self-administration had been opened at the regional court.

As reported, the company KaBB Gastro, founded in 2015, belonged to Philipp Kaufmann for years. Last week it became known that the entrepreneur was giving up plans for his gastronomy empire and wanted to divest himself of all gastronomy holdings.

According to KSV1870, Christian Meixner and Manuel Wellmann, two of Kaufmann’s former colleagues, now act as shareholders and managing directors of KaBB Gastro. There are two restaurants in Linz, the Lunzerwirt and the El Mariachi. Both companies are to be continued.

24 employees affected

Personnel problems and a lack of sales are seen as the cause of the bankruptcy. 24 employees and 65 creditors are affected. The liabilities amount to around 615,000 euros; there is no information about the assets. The creditors receive a quota of 20 percent.

Linz lawyer Eva Meusburger-Streicher was appointed as insolvency administrator. “It will quickly check whether it is possible to continue operating the restaurant without further damage to the creditors,” says Petra Wögerbauer from KSV1870.
