SYRIZA: “He will be a presidential candidate”

He insists that the camp of Stefanos Kasselakis does not recognize the exclusion of his candidacy for the leadership of SYRIZA, as it emerges from a leak after the decision of the Political Secretariat which essentially announced that the candidacy will not be discussed at the conference.

SYRIZA Elections: Definitive “no” to Kasselakis – Four presidential candidates

“No matter how much the opportunistic majority insists in the Political Secretariat, the conference was and remains the highest body and the only one competent to decide on the nominations for the presidency”, they pointed out characteristically from the side of the ousted president of SYRIZA and continued: “Stefanos Kasselakis will be a candidate for President. See you at the conference for the restoration of democracy.”

The decision of the Political Secretariat of SYRIZA

The exclusion of the candidacy of Stefanos Kasselakis is essentially announced by the Political Secretariat of SYRIZA, after the meeting on Wednesday, October 30.

In the decision of the Political Secretariat it is specifically stated: “SYRIZA-PS proceeds organized, democratically, with collectiveness and with absolute observance of the statutory provisions in the extraordinary congress and in the election of the president of the party, in accordance with the decisions of the Central Committee and the statutory provisions. The conference will also have the possibility of digital participation.

Unfortunately during this course, phenomena incompatible with our common course were observed. The non-acceptance of the collective decisions and the provisions of the statute, the extrajudicial proceedings against the central committee and the political secretariat, are politically unthinkable options.

The different misleading registers, separate buildings, references to coups and dictatorships are choices offensive to our history and antagonistic to our perspective. They are options to prepare another competitive party in SYRIZA PS and its democratic processes.

After the deadline for submitting nominations for the presidency of the party and according to the decisions of the Central Committee, the nominations for approval at the conference are: Apostolos Gletsou, Pavlos Polakis, Sokratis Famellou, Nikos Farandouris.

Through these processes, SYRIZA-PS will emerge stronger, so that it can fight with all its might to honor the mandate of the Greek citizens for a credible official opposition, constituting a solid bulwark in the anti-popular plans of the Mitsotakis government.

SYRIZA-PS must organize the socially necessary and necessary progressive counter-attack, defending the interests of the large social majority, with the aim of progressive change in society and the country, and a reliable alternative governance proposal”.

**Interview with a Representative⁢ from Stefanos Kasselakis’ Camp Regarding SYRIZA Leadership Candidacy Exclusion**

**Editor:** Thank you for joining us today to discuss the recent developments surrounding SYRIZA and the exclusion of Stefanos ⁤Kasselakis from the leadership‍ candidacy. Can you start by summarizing ‌your stance⁤ on the Political Secretariat’s decision?

**Representative:** Thank you for having me. Our camp firmly believes that the Political Secretariat’s decision to exclude Stefanos Kasselakis‌ is fundamentally flawed.⁣ We maintain ⁤that the conference is the highest decision-making body ⁢of SYRIZA, and it has the authority ‌to discuss all candidacies, including that of Kasselakis. This is⁢ a matter of democratic process and collective decision-making.

**Editor:** What specific ‌concerns⁢ do you have about the way this decision was ⁢communicated?

**Representative:** The approach‌ taken‌ by the Political Secretariat appears to bypass proper democratic protocols. They seem ‌to disregard the importance of‌ party unity and transparency, which is crucial during such‍ pivotal moments. By announcing that his candidacy would not be ‍discussed, they have stifled a⁣ legitimate democratic process that should allow for all⁤ voices to be⁢ heard.

**Editor:** You ⁢mentioned the intent to participate in the upcoming conference. ⁢Can⁢ you elaborate on what you hope to achieve there?

**Representative:** Absolutely. We are⁢ determined to take our case to‌ the conference. Our goal is to restore the democratic principles‌ that SYRIZA stands for—namely, ensuring that all candidates who meet the party’s criteria have the opportunity to present themselves. We want to advocate for a truly inclusive discussion, which positively reflects ⁢the⁣ democratic values of our party.

**Editor:** The Political Secretariat emphasized the need for adherence to statutory provisions and the collective decisions ‍of the⁢ party. How do ⁣you respond to that?

**Representative:** While we respect‌ the need for structure and adherence to rules, ‌we believe that these rules should not be applied selectively to exclude ‌candidates. The collective decision-making process should never be so rigid that it prevents⁢ qualified individuals from contributing⁢ to the party’s future.

**Editor:** What do you think the outcome of this internal conflict might mean for the‌ future of SYRIZA?

**Representative:** This situation could‌ lead to a significant rift within SYRIZA⁤ if not ⁢handled properly. We urge the leadership to consider ⁣the repercussions of alienating members and potential candidates. A unified party, embracing all viewpoints,‌ is crucial for tackling the pressing challenges ahead.⁢ Our hope is that this conflict can be resolved⁢ in favor of inclusivity and democratic engagement.

**Editor:** Thank ‌you for sharing your insights. We will continue to follow these developments closely.

**Representative:** Thank you for the opportunity. We look forward to fighting for the democratic values of SYRIZA and ensuring⁣ all ‍voices have a place at the⁣ table.
