Attack in Tel Aviv: One dead and 32 injured – Israeli citizen the driver who was “neutralized” – “Heroic attack” says Hamas

Police announced that the driver of the truck, who was “neutralized” by gunfire from a civilian at the scene, was an Israeli citizen.

Israeli media reported that an Israeli Arab from Kalanshawe in central Israel.

The police announced that all possibilities are being considered “with an emphasis on the case of the terrorist attack”.

According to the initial police investigation, a bus had stopped at the station outside the base to drop off passengers and then a truck pulled into the stop, hitting the people inside.

Hamas issued a statement shortly after the incident, praising the “heroic embolization attack” carried out near the “Mossad headquarters”.

The Glilot area near Herzliya is home to Mossad headquarters along with several IDF intelligence units, including the high-profile Signals Intelligence Unit 8200.

Without claiming responsibility for the apparent attack, the terror group said it was “a natural response to the Zionist occupation’s crimes against our Palestinian people in Gaza, the West Bank and Jerusalem, and its continued brutal massacres, especially in the north Gauze. Strip.”

The Magen David Adom emergency service said eight people were trapped under the truck when medics arrived at the bus stop and others were lying or walking nearby.

Police and ambulances rushed to the scene, where police cordoned off the area as medics treated the injured and a helicopter hovered overhead.

After the attack, Tel Aviv’s Ichilov Hospital said one of the victims of the suspected terror attack was in critical condition. A short time later, the hospital issued a statement saying that doctors had pronounced a victim dead. It was unclear if it was the same victim who was seriously injured.

Many of the injured were elderly people who had disembarked from a bus before a visit to a nearby museum to mark the national day of remembrance for those killed in the massacre by Hamas and the war that followed on October 7, 2023.

Police are investigating further details, including a motive for the attack.

In a separate incident in the West Bank on Sunday, the Israel Defense Forces said a Palestinian motorist who attempted to carry out a stabbing and stabbing attack on Israeli troops near the West Bank town of Hizma was shot dead.

According to the IDF, the attacker accelerated his car towards troops of the 43rd Battalion of the Binyamin Regional Brigade as they were operating near Hizma.

“The terrorist pulled out a knife … and tried to carry out a knife attack,” the IDF said, adding that soldiers opened fire on the attacker, killing him.

There were no other injuries in the incident.

Police said Route 437 in the area was closed to traffic after the incident.
