The women of COSYGA are doing it again –

For the second year in a row, the women of the Gabonese Trade Union Confederation (COSYGA) put their particular touch on the crusade against female cancers, as part of the 11th edition of the fight against said cancers, particularly cervical and breast cancers. To this end, the women of COSYGA recently organized a sports morning on the beaches of the Lycée National Léon Mba.

Representing various administrations, the women present at this sports and well-being morning have the mission of continuing to raise awareness in the different administrations to which they belong, in order to erect clear barriers in the face of these devastating cancers and these silent killers.

“It is important to remember that awareness also involves a healthy lifestyle and regular sporting activity”recommended Prudence Foumboula, Secretary General of the Committee of Working Women of the Gabonese Trade Union Confederation.

The women of the Gabonese Trade Union Confederation also intend to organize, in the coming days, information and awareness sessions supervised by the medical profession and other resource people around the warning signs of these cancers and how to avoid them.

“The fight must not stop. We must remain mobilized and the message must continue to get across, whatever the occasions. We must pay attention to our body by listening to it regularly when our body speaks to us and react immediately after listening”strongly urged the Secretary General of the Committee of Working Women of COSYGA.

As part of the campaign “Pink October” In progress, several actions are organized by the transitional government, administrations and associative organizations to intensify the fight against female cancers, through awareness and screening sessions.

According to recent available statistics, Gabon records 400 deaths per year due to female cancers, 88% of which represent cervical and breast cancers.

This is a worrying public health problem which calls for mobilization of the national community and its partners, with a view to increasing awareness, systematic screening and increased vigilance of the country’s health authorities.
