There was no tripartite meeting of the presidents
Last week’s session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly was accompanied by a lie born out of carelessness.
After the meetings of President Gitan Nausėda with his colleagues from Ukraine and Poland Volodymyr Zelenski and Andrzej Duda, the news started to spread on social networks that they sat down together to quell their emotions.
The leader of Lithuania really volunteered to be an intermediary between these countries, due to disagreements over Ukraine’s grain exports. But there was no tripartite meeting of the leaders, he and his colleagues had met separately.

The news about the tripartite meeting was announced on Thursday afternoon. She appeared on the news channel just a few minutes apart „Nexta“ and news aggregator “Visegrad 24” accounts on the social network Twitter.
Both posts were illustrated with photographs of all three presidents in different places and at different times. Although the footage was not identified as being from a trilateral meeting in New York, it would appear so at first glance.
Mr. Nausėda had indeed met with the leaders of Ukraine and Poland, but they communicated separately – no tripartite meeting took place.
This was also confirmed by the president’s press representative Ridas Jasiulionis: “There was no such meeting. The president had a separate meeting with both A. Duda and V. Zelenski, and conveyed his position to them.”
The Lithuanian leader told his colleagues that disagreements between the countries should be resolved as fast as possiblethe Presidency announced. He suggested simplifying the procedures for grain transportation through Poland and increasing transit through our country.
That there was no tripartite meeting, denied and the Ukrainian news agency UNIAN: “V. Zelensky was not at the joint meeting with A. Duda and G. Nausėda.”
The war of neighbors is a fiction of propagandists
As Poland and Ukraine try to resolve their differences, Russian propagandists are not sleeping. In social networks, lies have been actively spread about the explosion that allegedly took place in Poland and the Third World War started as a result.
“3 minutes ago hit Poland, many casualties, World War III started?” Polish troops will enter Ukraine tonight”, – published on a fake news site.

The text mentions an incident when Poland in early August reported about the two Belarusian helicopters that violated its airspace. This prompted Warsaw to send more troops to the border.

This is a lie. The publication does not contain any evidence of such explosions or that this country intends to send troops into Ukraine. The headline is frankly manipulative and misleading.
Russian propaganda aimed at driving a wedge between the two nations. constantly tells its audience the story that Poland is about to annex part of Ukraine. It is explained that Poland want to conquer Western Ukraine,

Scary again with scanning QR codes
Even after the suppression of the COVID-19 pandemic, the topic of manipulations limiting people’s freedom keeps appearing.
Recently, such accusations have been received by the German low-price retail chain Aldi, which is said to be being forced into a “digital prison” and is even depriving people of the opportunity to obtain basic food items.
Passion is fueled by sharing on social media a videoin which an English-speaking man visits the store and films the security systems.
He demonstrates that when entering the store, it is necessary to scan a digital code, the system of which is installed on the turnstiles at the entrance.
The video received tons of shares and even more outrage. Aldi SHOP&GO, a supermarket in Greenwich, London, is part of the “initial phase” of a “digital prison”, according to commentators.
Indeed, the mall has not turned into a “digital prison”, nor has it declared any plans to “starve” visitors who do not have a QR code.
A closer look at the video shows that the person filming is not going to a traditional Aldi store. Visible signs placed in front of the entrance suggest a certain sequence of actions, which also indicates the need to scan the QR code.

However, this is not because of “total control”, as some commentators claim, but because Aldi SHOP&GO stores operate without cashiers.
BBC Pegthe first such store opened in the UK last January. In a store controlled by artificial intelligence, the buyer goes through the entire user journey independently – he chooses goods, loads them into his bag and pays for them.
Such a store already operates in Lithuania.

Aliens were not shown
A briefing for Mexican lawmakers, which heard reports of unidentified anomalous phenomena and showed two alleged extraterrestrial bodies, sparked a flurry of talk online. But this does not mean that the existence of aliens and UFOs has already been confirmed – neither the parliament nor the government has recognized this.
Congress to demonstrate the alleged alien bodies have elongated heads and only three fingers on their hands. The greyish colored mummies with human facial features were brought in by controversial Mexican journalist and researcher Jaime Maussan.
The man said he found the bodies in Peru in 2017 and that they were clear evidence of extraterrestrial life. The National Autonomous University of Mexico has determined that the creatures are between 700 and 1,800 years old.
He confirmedthat performed the tests. However, the radiocarbon dating analysis carried out at the National Accelerator Mass Spectrometry Laboratory only determined the age of the samples and “did not in any way infer the provenance of the said samples”.
Although before the public hearing, MP Sergio Gutierrez saidthat it will be held “to hear different points of view” on UFOs from scientists in the United States and other countries, on social networks messages appearedwhich claim that the Mexican government has acknowledged the existence of aliens.

According to „Live Science“ and „San Diego Tribune“ publications, scientists have questioned Mr. Maussan’s claims about the displayed samples. According to the researchers, these exhibits could be made from parts of human mummies, as some DNA tests have shown that they contain human genetic material.
After the wave of information about the alleged alien bodies, Mexican scientists began to say they regretted that such a “show” could have been held in the country’s Congress at all.
The publication was prepared in 15 minutes in partnership with Metawhich aims to stop the spread of misleading news on the social network. More about the program and its rules – here.
