Ayrton Senna Tribute at São Paulo GP: Emerson Fittipaldi and F1 Legends Honor the Racing Icon

Ayrton Senna Tribute at São Paulo GP: Emerson Fittipaldi and F1 Legends Honor the Racing Icon

Before that, on Thursday (31), the car will be displayed at an event on Avenida Faria Lima, the economic epicenter of the capital of São Paulo. The agenda will feature the presence of Emerson Fittipaldi.

The tribute car was even highlighted in the program this Tuesday (29) at the Interlagos Autódromo, in the final stretch of the assembly of the 2024 São Paulo Grand Prix.

Hamilton never hid his idolatry and identification with Ayrton Senna. The Brit, who even has honorary Brazilian citizenship, already drove the three-time champion’s 1988 McLaren when he was still a driver for the British team. Hamilton was also thrilled in 2017 when he won a helmet from his idol after equaling Senna’s number of pole positions at the Canadian GP.

The person who also paid tribute to Ayrton on the 30th anniversary of the Brazilian’s death was Sebastian Vettel, who drove the 1993 McLaren at the 2024 Emilia Romagna GP, in Imola. On that occasion, the German, who owns the car, stopped on the main straight with the flags of Brazil and Austria, in tribute to Senna and Roland Ratzemberger, who also died on the weekend of the 1994 San Marino GP.

Senna will be one of the honorees at the São Paulo GP this weekend, alongside Gil de Ferran e Wilsinho Fittipaldi. The race is the 21st of the 2024 Formula 1 season.

F1 São Paulo GP: Speed, Honor, and a Touch of Heart

Hold onto your helmets, folks! This weekend, the racing world isn’t just revving up for the 2024 São Paulo Grand Prix – it’s all set for a grand tribute to the man, the myth, the mustachioed maestro of the tracks: Ayrton Senna. With all the excitement, you might need a seatbelt just to read about it!

Now, before we swipe left on the drama of racing and slide into the real show-stopper, the tribute car will be strutting its stuff on Thursday, October 31, at an event on Avenida Faria Lima, São Paulo’s answer to Wall Street, complete with finance and frolic. And who’s joining the spectacle? None other than the Brazilian legend himself, Emerson Fittipaldi! You know, just casually showing up while we mere mortals are at home battling with spreadsheets and laundry.

Hamilton’s Heartfelt Connection

You see, this isn’t just some random car parade, folks. This is a heartfelt affair! Sir Lewis Hamilton, the Brit who doesn’t hesitate to flaunt his affection for Senna, once had the privilege of driving the revered 1988 McLaren – yes, the one that has more glory than many of us have in our family trees. Are you sensing that envy? Good, because it’s real!

In a moment of pure emotional overload back in 2017, Hamilton was practically a child on Christmas morning when he received a helmet from Senna’s collection after tying his idol’s record for pole positions at the Canadian GP. Who knew racing could involve more tears than a soap opera?

A Tribute Fit for a Legend

And let’s not forget the recent homage paid by the equally impressive Sebastian Vettel. Just the other day, he took a trip down memory lane, gracing the track in a 1993 McLaren at the 2024 Emilia Romagna GP. The man stopped on the main straight, brandishing Brazilian and Austrian flags, waving them like he was at a carnival instead of paying tribute to two legends. Talk about making a statement! You could almost hear the collective gasps and “aaahhs” from fans around the world.

Get Ready for Racing! 🏁

This weekend’s São Paulo GP will boast an impressive lineup of honorees, including not just Senna (the GOAT of Brazilian motorsport), but also Gil de Ferran and Wilsinho Fittipaldi. And if you’re wondering what to tune into, here’s everything to mark on your calendars:

The British driver, who proudly holds honorary Brazilian citizenship, previously took the wheel of Senna’s iconic 1988 McLaren while competing for the British team. In a memorable instance in 2017, Hamilton received a special helmet from Senna, which thrilled him as he joined the ranks of equaling Senna’s record for pole positions at the Canadian Grand Prix.

During the tribute events marking the 30th anniversary of Ayrton Senna’s tragic passing, Sebastian Vettel also paid his respects by showcasing the 1993 McLaren during the 2024 Emilia Romagna GP in Imola. The German driver, who owns the famed car, made a poignant stop on the circuit’s main straight, displaying flags of both Brazil and Austria to honor not only Senna but also Roland Ratzemberger, who lost his life at the 1994 San Marino GP.

In an exciting nod to racing heritage, Senna will be celebrated alongside other motorsport legends, including Gil de Ferran and Wilsinho Fittipaldi, during the São Paulo GP this upcoming weekend. This race marks the 21st event of the exhilarating 2024 Formula 1 season.
