The confessed murderer of his two children, ages 4 and 7, would have told the Police that he killed his children due to an alleged act of infidelity on the part of the children’s mother, from whom he had separated a week ago.
This chilling crime occurred on the afternoon of October 28 in the Las Ferias neighborhood of Engativá.
The worst thing, according to the neighbors who witnessed the incident, is that the man attacked the boy and girl with a knife to take revenge on his wife.
Given what happened, some neighbors entered the house where the man, who already had a history of domestic violence and drug use, took him out of there and began to beat him, so the Police, after receiving a complaint about an alleged fight, had have to intervene to save the suspect’s life.
After taking him to a police station, the man would have told the authorities everything, the reasons that led him to commit the crime and the way in which he would have committed it.
It is expected that, in the next few hours, after collecting all the evidentiary material, Beltrán will be presented before a guarantee control judge who will decide whether the accused will remain in a detention center.
He didn’t seem violent
One of the family’s neighbors told Blu Radio that the man had spoken to her on many occasions, admitting his problems and that he “got disordered” because of the money problems he had.
Likewise, he revealed that she recommended that he calm down and that it was not necessary for him to take drugs due to the problems he had, but, he commented, that he “did not seem like a violent person.”
However, according to what was revealed by the authorities, Beltrán already had a history of domestic violence, both against the woman and against his own children.
The Mayor’s Office of Bogotá, for its part, rejected the fact and admitted that this forces them to work much harder to protect children and adolescents so that they can live in safe environments.
It was learned, on the other hand, that the Attorney General’s Office will charge him with the crimes of feminicide and homicide aggravated by the cruel murder of Santy Steban and Susan Beltrán Ramírez, 4 and 7 years old, respectively, both students from district schools in the city.
