Pekanbaru-XIII Koto Kampar Toll Road Makes it Easier to Access Tourism in Riau, West Sumatra

SINCE it became operational, the Pekanbaru – This 56 km long toll road plays a significant role in accelerating cross-provincial connectivity as well as encouraging economic development, tourism and trade in the Riau and West Sumatra provinces.

Executive Vice President (EVP) Hutama Karya Corporate Secretary Adjib Al Hakim said the Pekanbaru – XIII Koto Kampar Toll Road had had a real positive impact, especially in terms of time efficiency and increasing access between regions. This toll road connects the Pekanbaru area to XIII Koto Kampar with a faster travel time. Before the presence of the toll road, the journey took up to 1.5 – 2 hours, now, the same route can be reached in just 30 minutes.

“This route also makes it easier to access various leading tourist destinations for road users from Pekanbaru who want to visit the Harau Valley tourist attraction in Payakumbuh or road users from Padang who want to enjoy the view of Ulu Kasok in the Riau area now have a faster and more efficient alternative,” said Adjib , Sunday (27/10).

He explained that people’s enthusiasm for crossing this toll road can also be seen from the average daily traffic which has continued to increase since it began operating. Every day, more than 5,000 vehicles cross the Pekanbaru – XIII Koto Kampar toll road. This shows the positive response of toll road users towards ease of access and shorter travel times.

He revealed that the Pekanbaru – XIII Koto Kampar Toll Road is equipped with modern infrastructure that supports safety and smooth travel. There are 107 surveillance camera points (CCTV) for real-time traffic monitoring which are monitored centrally in the control room for 24 hours and 5 Variable Message Sign (VMS) points which provide the latest information for road users. Apart from that, facilities for user convenience include one interchange in Bangkinang and 2 (two) rest areas, namely Rest Area 36 Line A and 36 Line B, which are complete with various facilities.

“This toll road is also supported by three main toll gates: Bangkinang Toll Gate, Sungai Pinang Toll Gate, and Koto Kampar Toll Gate XIII, which makes entry and exit easier. “With the support of 29 operational fleets, Hutama Karya ensures that toll road management and maintenance runs optimally to ensure user comfort and is committed to continuing to improve the quality of services and infrastructure to support national economic development, especially through infrastructure in the Sumatra region,” explained Adjib.

With the increasing length of toll roads in Riau Province, Hutama Karya continues to appeal to all road users to drive in accordance with the rules and regulations that apply on toll roads. Drive at a minimum speed of 60 km/h and a maximum of 80 km/h, and do not use the shoulder of the road except in an emergency.

Road users are also asked to immediately rest at the nearest rest area if they feel sleepy, and if there are complaints or see crimes on the toll road, to immediately report to the Pekanbaru – XIII Koto Kampar Toll Call Center at 0812-6800-6800. (D-2)
