CLEVELAND Cavaliers won convincingly 136-106 over the Toronto Raptors in the opening match of the 2024-2025 NBA season at Scotiabank Arena, Toronto, Thursday (24/10) WIB.

Evan Mobley scored a game-high 25 points after shooting 9 of 14, while Donovan Mitchell added 21 points.

According to the NBA website, this victory was the first time the Cavaliers had beaten the Raptors in the opening five games of the season. They outscored the Raptors 68-38.

In the Raptors camp, Scottie Barnes had a disappointing season debut by scoring only 9 points from 14 shooting attempts.

Chris Boucher scored 18 points, while Gradey Dick added 16 points. Guard Immanuel Quickley scored 13 points in 14 minutes before leaving with an injury.

The Cavaliers ended the first half up 69-49 after a 20-4 scoring run in the final five minutes.

The Raptors committed six turnovers during the period, which the Cavaliers capitalized on with five dunks, including three from Jarrett Allen.

The game also opened the Raptors’ 30th season in the NBA, as they welcomed former stars like Damon Stoudamire, TJ Ford, and Jerome Williams.

However, the performance on the court fell short of expectations, with the Raptors committing 19 turnovers that led to 30 points for the Cavaliers.

The Cavaliers’ next match is against the Detroit Pistons this weekend, while the Raptors will host the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday (26/10) WIB. (Ant/Z-1)
