Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – A total of 68.8 million smartphone units were sold in China in the third quarter (Q3) 2024. According to the IDC report, China’s cellphone market recorded growth of 3.2% year-on-year (yoy).
Vivo still consistently occupies first position as the king of Chinese cellphones with sales growth of 21.5% compared to the same period last year.
Apple, which was previously out of the ranks of the ‘Top 5’ Chinese cellphones, has now suddenly risen and taken 2nd place.
Simultaneously, Oppo actually dropped out of the list. In fact, in the IDC report in Q2 2024, Oppo was in 3rd position, even though it experienced a decline of 2.7% compared to Q2 2023.
Meanwhile, Huawei, which occupied 2nd position in Q2, has now been overtaken by Apple and must be willing to be in 3rd position.
Nevertheless, Huawei recorded the largest growth yoy at 42%, quoted from the official IDC website, Tuesday (29/10/2024).
Xiaomi and Honor are in 4th and 5th position respectively. Xiaomi recorded growth of 12.8% yoy, while Honor experienced a decline of 22.5% yoy.
Overall, China’s HP market growth of 3.2% indicates a positive trend for four consecutive quarters.
“Despite economic challenges, consumers are motivated to buy new smartphones after three years of decline,” said senior researcher at IDC China, Arthur Guo.
