**Interview with Rafiq Khedro: The Suspended SHO and Poet**
**Editor:** Thank you for joining us today, Rafiq Khedro. Your recent suspension has generated quite a buzz. Can you tell us what led to the viral audio message where you announced leaves based on subscriber counts for your YouTube channel?
**Rafiq Khedro:** Thank you for having me. Yes, the audio that got circulated was intended as a light-hearted comment to encourage my colleagues to engage with my channel, Rafiq Productions Larkana. I thought it would be fun to reward them for supporting my passion for poetry. I never anticipated it would lead to my suspension.
**Editor:** In your message, you mentioned specific rewards for collecting subscribers. Could you elaborate on that for us?
**Rafiq Khedro:** Certainly. I joked that if an officer brought in 20 subscribers, they’d get two days off, and if they brought in 100, they’d receive ten days. I asked them to send me screenshots for verification to avoid any false claims. It was meant to be an encouragement for them to take an interest in my work.
**Editor:** Following the audio’s release, the Divisional Inspector General swiftly reacted by suspending you. How did you feel upon receiving that notification?
**Rafiq Khedro:** It was disheartening, to say the least. I have dedicated myself to maintaining law and order in a challenging area, and my focus has always been on that. While I understand the gravity of the situation, I believe there was a misunderstanding regarding my intentions.
**Editor:** You mentioned that your YouTube channel was created just months ago and already has about 1,000 subscribers. What motivated you to start this channel?
**Rafiq Khedro:** As a poet with a long-standing passion for writing—over 250 poems since 1991—I wanted to share my work with a broader audience. The platform allows me to showcase the beauty of my poetry and connect with others who appreciate the art form. Interestingly, since the incident, my channel has gained even more subscribers!
**Editor:** How do you balance your role as a police officer and a poet, especially in a district like Kashmore, known for lawlessness?
**Rafiq Khedro:** It’s indeed challenging. Poetry is an emotional outlet for me amidst the stresses of police work. I believe expressing emotions through poetry humanizes us amidst our duties. While I have enforced the law and worked towards safety in the area, my heart still seeks beauty and expression through my writings.
**Editor:** You seem to have a deep appreciation for your work in both fields. What advice would you give to those trying to pursue their passions while fulfilling their professional obligations?
**Rafiq Khedro:** Always find time for what you love, even amid responsibilities. Passion fuels our souls and can provide solace during tough times. Whether it’s poetry, art, or sports, nurturing those interests can help maintain balance and perspective in life.
**Editor:** Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us today, Rafiq. We wish you the best in your future endeavors, both as an officer and a poet.
**Rafiq Khedro:** Thank you for having me. It was a pleasure discussing my work and passion.
You to start a channel focused on your poetry?
**Rafiq Khedro:** I’ve been writing poetry since 1991, and it has always been a passion of mine. I wanted to create a platform where I could share my poems and recitals with a broader audience. I believe that poetry has the power to touch hearts and provoke thought, and I wanted to showcase my work as well as the talents of other artists. Everyone deserves to appreciate the beauty of poetry, and digital platforms provide an excellent avenue for that.
**Editor:** You have a unique blend of roles as an SHO and a poet, especially in a place like Kashmore, known for its challenges. How do you balance your duties as a police officer with your art?
**Rafiq Khedro:** It’s not always easy, especially given the law and order situation here, but my poetry often serves as an outlet for stress. The challenges I face day-to-day inspire my writing—whether it’s love, sorrow, or the struggles within my community. I feel a sense of responsibility not just to enforce the law but to be a voice for the emotions in my surroundings.
**Editor:** With the recent attention from social media, how do you feel about the public’s response to your situation and the comments made?
**Rafiq Khedro:** The varying opinions have certainly been eye-opening; some people have humorously criticized my actions, while others have shown support. It highlights the complexity of my situation—people understand the challenges we face in law enforcement yet also see the lighter side of my attempt to promote my channel. I hope this incident leads to a greater discussion about the intersection of art and public service.
**Editor:** Lastly, what are your plans moving forward? Will you continue to pursue both your career in the police force and your passion for poetry?
**Rafiq Khedro:** Absolutely! Despite the recent events, my resolve to serve my community as a police officer is unchanged. As for my poetry, I am determined to keep writing and sharing my work. I believe that there’s always a way to balance both, and perhaps this experience will deepen the themes I explore in my poetry.
**Editor:** Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences, Rafiq. It’s evident that your commitment to both your duties and your art informs your perspective in unique ways. We wish you the best in your future endeavors.
**Rafiq Khedro:** Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share my story.
