On Saturday, it became known that a Norwegian primary school teacher in his 40s has been sentenced to three years in prison in England for taking and keeping abuse material and sexualized images of children. Some of the children were as young as three years old, according to British police.

The man, who was arrested in Manchester this summer, was employed at a school in Oslo, writes Aftenposten.

The headmaster at the relevant school informs Aftenposten and VG that they are in contact with Norwegian police.

He says that the parents at the school were informed about the case on Sunday.

– On Monday, all students will be able to talk about this in class with safe adults who can answer questions and look after them, he writes to VG.

In addition to the school’s staff, the health nurse and the Education Agency’s crisis team will be available to the children throughout the school day.

The principal at the school writes to VG that the school does not know whether any of the students there have been exposed to misdeeds by the man. The teacher has not been at work in the last school year, the principal says.

Kripos informs the newspaper that they are not working on this case.

– If there is a suspicion that something criminal may have happened in Norway, it is natural that investigations are carried out by the police district where the man lives, says press officer at Kripos, Jonas Fabritius Christoffersen.
