The far-left party renounces its right of initiative provided for by Flemish electoral rules. N-VA and Vooruit have announced exclusive negotiations.
If the N-VA and Vooruit do not present a coalition agreement to run the city of Antwerp by Monday evening, the PVDA-PTB does not intend to resume the right of initiative which theoretically belongs to him.

Deadlines of 14 days
The Flemish electoral code provides that the political list that comes first in local elections has a 14-day right of initiative. During this period, this list seeks to build a coalition to run the community.

During the local elections of October 13, the N-VA of outgoing mayor Bart De Wever came in first position in Antwerp, ahead of the PVDA-PTB, and Vooruit, third.
Antwerp nationalists and socialists, however, announced last week that they were now holding exclusive negotiations between the two of them to form a new coalition for the city, as well as the province.
