Lincoln Project Unveils Ad Linking Trump to Nazi Rhetoric at Madison Square Garden Rally

October 27, 2024 —
In a striking demonstration of political opposition, Donald Trump is set to host a controversial rally titled ‘Homage To Hitler’ at Madison Square Garden today. In response, the Lincoln Project has released a provocative new advertisement that pairs Trump’s actual remarks dubbed in German with disturbing footage from the Nazi era. This stark contrast highlights how Trump’s inflammatory and authoritarian rhetoric parallels that of the Nazis in 1930s Germany.

“Trump idolizes dictators notorious for their cruelty. It is terrifying watching history rhyme in less than a century,” stated Ryan Wiggins, Chief of Staff for the Lincoln Project. She elaborated, “This ad serves as a chilling reminder that the rhetoric employed by Trump has echoes of past horrors and should alarm any undecided voter. The promises of fear and violence under a Trump administration signal a troubling return to dictatorial governance, prioritizing only his personal agenda of wealth and power. Choosing Kamala Harris is crucial if we want to protect the essence of American democracy.”

Lincoln Project counter programming Trump:

The striking ad will prominently feature on a mobile billboard truck that will circle Madison Square Garden, showcasing a series of ads that emphasize the dire consequences America could face if Trump secures reelection. Another truck will playfully confront the crowds of “dads, Brads, and Chads” attending the gathering, blasting a curated playlist of Taylor Swift music, which champions themes of inclusion, female empowerment, and support for the LGBTQ+ community.

In an effort to further challenge Trump’s rally, the Lincoln Project is organizing a virtual town hall titled “A Night at the Garden: Trump’s Fascist Final Message.” This event will feature an esteemed lineup of speakers, including:

  • Stuart Stevens, Senior Advisor for the Lincoln Project

  • Marshall Curry, Academy Award-winning director best known for “A Night At The Garden,” which documents the infamous 1938 Nazi rally

  • Dr. Jennifer Mercieca, Professor of Communication and Journalism at Texas A&M University

  • Dr. Deborah Cohen, Director of the Northwestern University Buffett Institute for Global Affairs

  • Dr. Peter Simi, Professor of Sociology at Chapman University

The town hall will commence at 7 PM and is accessible for viewing online here. In addition, Marshall Curry’s impactful documentary “A Night At The Garden” will also be showcased during the event.

The Lincoln Project stands as a prominent pro-democracy organization in the United States, unwaveringly committed to the preservation, protection, and defense of democratic values.
